IHG Platinum status fast track

I see that at Diamond level they offer free breakfasts. I’m interested to see if most properties honour this or not as that would probably be the deciding factor in whether I book the extra 10 nights to become Dismond
Full breakfast courtesy of diamond (and ambassador) at a recent IC stay in Syd (not double bay). Reports that some properties only offer a partial breakfast.

Guess no one has stayed at these yet?…

Look a little B grade I must admit
I stayed at Indigo recently. It’s Japanese themed including the restaurant / room service, rooms are ok - small but recently redone. Check in is one floor up, food was horrendous and if staying there again I would never eat there.

Can’t comment on Voco sorry.

IHG experts.....

Best IHG property in BNE CBD? (Can't stay in Hotel X unfortunately)

- Indigo
- Voco

Both look a little average being renovated Mecure / Ibis!
I stayed at Voco BNE North Quay last Tuesday (4th). Room was on the 12th floor with river view. Upgraded from the non-river-view side as a "Platinum Elite". Two queen beds. Was very comfortable, clean and appeared recently renovated. Received acknowledgement at check-in and handwritten welcome in room. No in-room bar but not a problem. I arrived back from a QPAC event at 9.30pm and had not eaten. Even though the bar was due to close at 10 pm they happily prepared a couple of very good fresh prawn rolls (advertised as one of their specialties) for me and +1 and when more people returned to the hotel at 9.40pm and 9.45pm they all came to the bar and were happily served. I would return. Probably equivalent to Mercure. Reasonable value.

I'm a bit confused. I did the thing earlier this year, and have only just now done 4 nights in a HI. My status shows as Platinum until 31/12/22 but I think I've missed out on the "stay 5 nights to retain" window. Will I just go back to nuthin on Jan 1?

Check your “offers” page. Mine says I have until something like 27 Nov to complete the status match promo.

I think I must have left my stays too late

Wasn’t “5 nights”? Depending on when you registered, you may still have time for one more night? Otherwise, you can register for the new one but I think that’ll be another 5 nights (or whatever it is)…

Yes, but it is showing I need the regular number of nights and it doesn’t appear in my offers. I’ll try re-registering

I think I registered quite late on the off chance I could try for Diamond, hence my offer is still open to 23 Nov (I can see). Fortunately I’d done a fast track earlier that already extended my status to Dec 2023 but pissed with myself I didn’t double up on this offer - I’d be halfway to Diamond…. ☹️.

Same with me, but the 'offer' timing and conditions are still clearly showing under my 'offers' (and there is the e-mail as well). If you've only done 4 nights, then the 'offer' won't kick in until you've done the 5, which for me is tomorrow night. Will see what happens then :)

I stayed at the Indigo as a Platinum. The rate was competitive, but based on a number of teething issues, I wish I hadn't defected from the HIX across the city...

Fast track achieved. Stayed 8 nights in the Holiday Inn Brighton Waterfront.
I don't recommend this hotel or the Hilton nearby for that matter. Get off the beach and up the hill if you ever find yourself in Brighton.

How bad was it?
Pretty bad. Some small but annoying things: no tea and coffee in the room, resolved by a trip to reception; plans from the refurb still in a drawer, with some sawdust, again not a huge problem. (The signs in the lift still said it was an Ibis.) But it was the fluctuating hot water temperature that was most frustrating, especially when showering. Made a report at the front desk and was told it would be fixed. Returned late afternoon to find the lights on (and the room not made up) so clearly someone had been in the room. Assumed that the matter had been resolved because there was no evidence or message to the contrary. Took a shower with the same problem resulting. Called reception. Told it had been fixed. "We have a log." Went down to reception. Explained my position to the duty manager (like how long had the hot water been tested?). He came up with various excuses, eventuating in him visiting the room. He apologised, but it was entirely unnecessary. I did feel that we were doing their user-acceptance testing, and I should have expected this with the discounted rate, but it wasn't made explicit. I felt they needed more of a soft launch to get everything up to speed.

Oh, and the reason why we were there (and not at the Hilton across town) so this is on topic was that I was doing the IHG Platinum challenge fast track. I've never had that happen at *any* Hilton brand.

Hmm thanks.
Have you tried the Voco by chance?
I think that used to be the Mercure

Nope, I'm Hilton Platinum so it was only when I renewed for 2023 that I decided to try some others (where I have the choice). Some have been worth it (e.g. HIX Newcastle, as others have remarked). Indigo (based on one stay) reminded me of a W wannabe (from back in the day) without the polish.

Guess no one has stayed at these yet?…

Stayed at Voco Brisbane last weekend, it was a it hit and miss.

I am IHG diamond was travelling with my childhood bestie for a girls weekend. I had booked a standard double room (2 dbl beds and walk in rain fall shower). My flight was late so check in just after 19:30.

Check-in amenity was points of buffet breakfast for 2 for both days, took the breakfast (they usually charge $32pp per day) so better value than points this stay.

Go to room to find had been upgraded to a high floor 2 room suite BUT it had a king bed, SHUB (ewww) and my friend was expected to sleep on a very uncomfortable looking sofa bed. It was very much a case of an upgrade actually being a downgrade - in a huge suite over 3 times size of a standard room why would have a shub (and bathroom with less vanity space than your base room)?

Backdown to reception to ask for the room i booked (showing booking note that must have a walk in shower), was sent back to room to wait. 5 mins later night manager and assistant come up to apologise, cant have my original room because after they upgraded me, they upgraded someone else to mine.

Offered a room with double + single bed and proper shower for Friday night plus a move to room type i booked for the Saturday night, bottle of wine which i declined for a couple of bottles of sparkling and $100 refund - all accepted.

Moved rooms and was very comfortable. When we got back from dinner also offered 2 free coughtails at bar.

Double + single room had chromecast, comfy beds, good block out curtains, grest shower, plenty of bathroom bench space, heaps of conveniently located power points, usb chargers and reading lights. Only downside was duvet between 2 sheets instead of duvet cover.

The 2 double room, had a few less power points but beds did have duvet covers, not the annoying sheets, otherwise same.

Gym is very basic, pool outdoor but heated.

Breakfast was pretty standard- bacon, sausages, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes hashbrowns (that were actually potato gems /tater tots), omelette station, poached or scrabbled eggs, fresh fruit, cereal, pancake machine, juice, pastries, toast, yoghurt and juice. Coffee machine, but extra if you wanted barista coffee.

Location good short walk to everywhere we needed to be.

I would stay again but call ahead to make sure any upgrade jsnt actually a down grade.

Hope that helps.
