I am a Platinum Elite (ex Royal Ambassador) with about 500k of points. I find the whole loyalty program incredibly poorly communicated and structured. Their website is all over the place. Thank goodness they actually know how to run hotels.

If Gold gets complimentary internet, seems like not a bad low bar if just for that benefit. Can you still buy Gold (or, for those at ICs and/or business accounts, buy Ambassador which comes with Gold)?

Useful benefit until complimentary internet for everyone becomes the new standard.

Don't think you can buy gold anymore with point purchases. However e rewards points still count towards status.

as it is harder to get to Platinum Lounge access should be complimentary, as should late check out.

We may find they let the top tier settle down a bit before making that decision. Assuming of course, with the harder requal requirements, they lose a fair portion of the top tier.

I must admit, it's pretty difficult shifting any Hilton stays across to IHG where a Hilton exec. lounge is on offer.

After a recent 2 nite stay at CP Canberra, my initial thoughts are they're not a stitch on Hilton, but I am looking forward to the IC stays.

This room of the forum will need a name upgrade too.....

Agree but some would argue your point about running hotels ...

It would appear that you can no longer purchase Gold status even though it is mentioned in the FAQ with a link.

How do I become a Priority Club Gold member?
Priority Club Rewards Gold membership will be awarded to you if you have a minimum of 15 nights at qualifying rates or if you earn at least 20,000 points during a calendar year. Once you have earned Gold Elite membership status in any calendar year, you will maintain such status through the end of the following calendar year. You may also purchase a Gold membership for a fee of $50 USD. Gold memberships that are purchased are only valid for the duration of the calendar year in which they are purchased. If you wish to upgrade to Gold Elite Status now, please click here.

You can still buy Gold status buy purchasing Abassador status.

Not for fifty bucks though! ;)

Less that $50 effectively depending on how you utilise the BOGOs free night, not too many ICs would be less than $250 minimum nightly cost.

That's what I like about you markis10.......your mind deviously works on many stratums!

On that exact point - if anybody requires a room in Nanjing China (NKG) drop me a pm - I am pretty sure I can get you a room at IC for RMB500 (AD83) nt.

Was introduced to this exciting proposal last week - I actually stayed at Sheraton Kingsley at rate RMB700 (AD116) nt - never again after touring IC.

That would be right. Pay $200 and join ambassador and recieve a free weekend night voucher, use it somewhere like IC Syd (where I do) or Mel, pay rack rate (assume $350) for the first night and stay the second night free (saving $350) minus the $200 to join and you are actually $150 on top....easy....yeah right.
Oh yes, by the way, not all of them get the voucher off you at check-in. Last year I used mine 3 times

Free movie and a guaranteed upgrade also have value that needs to be factored in, and there is often a stay three times get free ambassador promo around this time of year.

Promo which is currently running with a ? as an end date....It does say that it is a targeted offer so may not work. Havent tried it personnally as I had paid my $200
