I'm in the QF Lounge thread

I met a very nice AFF member when we were both passing through BKK and he had kindly offered to guest me in to the lounge. We hadn't met before so we didn't know what each other looked like. I wasn't entirely sure I was waiting at door of the correct lounge, so I was approaching a number of single men entering the BKK QF lounge and asking, "are you ....?". They good naturedly replied in the negative.

Finally, he arrived and we went in and had a great chat and found we had a lot in common. Some of the men that I'd approached commented that they were pleased that I'd found him. ;)

It has been some time (about 4 years) since I was last in the Qantas International Lounge at Sydney airport.
This time my wife and I went in there prior to our SYD/HKG Business Class flight and could not believe how crowded it was.
We had trouble finding a seat together; in fact we went to either end and had to wait until a few seats became vacant so we could sit together.
It took some time to find a space at the servery to get a snack and while it was self service, it was really a bit of a bun fight as people were trying to pick and choose their food on offer.
I am quite disappointed at how Qantas promotes itself and gives the impression that the a lounge is a haven away from the crowds.
Maybe it was the time of day (around 1230-1330 hours) that was the problem.?
However I could see myself not bothering to pay the fee to rejoin the Qantas Club if everyday was like this in the lounges.
Oh, I might also mention, some of the attire was more "Byron Bay Beach Bum" than classy international business traveller.
Is this what has become the norm ?

Im in the JFK T7 British Airways Galleries Lounge until the departure of QF18. Then will be in the Qantas LAX Business Lounge before the QF18 departure.

Is this what has become the norm ?

Yes, it's been bad every time I've been in lately. I think it's partly a result of putting on larger aircraft and not realising that this would require a larger lounge. I think the other part of the problem is giving SGs access to the business lounge.

In the MEL Dom J lounge till QF620 boards

I will send you a PM

It was a pleasure to meet you Sjm - happy to be your first AFFer - may there be many more.

no wonder the lounges are up the proverbial with members guesting strangers who have no right to be in there in the first place. If you are travelling with friends or family sure that's why we have that privilege, but just advertising here to any member of the public I don't get it, are you people big noting yourselves or what.

thommo50, this is why I post my lounge time on AFF and why I started this thread.

Lucky you!

I'm sitting in the Koru lounge. Nice design but that's about it, nothing interesting to eat or drink here.

In QF SIN lounge for next hour. So wish there was a coughtail list

For future reference, there is a coughtail list. Lean over the bar, they have a list for counting the coughtails that they've made. It is an extensive list.

Must have missed you in the customs line :)

Isn't there an SQ lounge that is better?

No queue at all this morning, was very happy to breeze through security up until I had to turn right towards the "other" lounges :p

SQ F lounge closed for renovations :(
