I'm in the VA Lounge thread

Boxing day, midday.
My better half guested her friend instead of me (good Christmas giving). I'm outside for an hour, unless somebody is inside with an unused +1 reading this

No VA lounges are open yet
And it may be worth noting that the Perth lounge is apparently permanently closed as are a couple of the international lounges.

From another thread - VA won't open lounges until sufficient traffic resumes (but it's not clear what that actually means)

That being said the CEO did say they remain committed to a fleet of two-cabin (Business/Economy) 737's along with lounge access on the ground.

Well, I'm in the Sydney Velocity lounge right now. It sure is a different experience to what we all remember. Only the top level is open and with restricted numbers allowed.

There's no priority entry so you enter through the regular stairs just past security.

Food offerings are minimal with juices, fresh fruit, muesli, cereals and a choice if butternut or raspberry muffins on the buffet station (served by staff only) and of course the coffee station.

The staff are as friendly as always of course.

I'll report back on the business class flight experience once I get a chance.

I’m in Sydney now for the lunch rush. Petrol station sandwiches and some cheese and biscuit packs. Hey, still beats the business class catering! Coffee machine is going and bar seems to be open. Only drama is you can’t get anything yourself (not even pickup a packaged sandwich) so it’s a very slow process. I’m assuming this is a very temporary arrangement.

Or the new mid market VA 2.0 😉

I more meant the handing out of packaged items rather than picking them up yourself. It’s a slow process that won’t work in a full lounge. Becomes a bit like not packing people into a restaurant but making them line up shoulder to shoulder outside.

TBH I preferred the sandwiches to the usual slop
