I'm in the VA Lounge thread

In the Perth lounge until VA 1853. Not a lot of food, but scrambled eggs and toast are here

MEL lounge calling flights early again today. I'm on VA329 (1310 departure) which they called at 12:45. Get to Gate 2 and doesn't board for another 10 minutes 😑😑

Possibly, havent been there for a while, MEL is not great but I usually disappointed with back coffees in most places
FYI Melbourne lounge coffee was average to say the least. Tasted like the machine hadn't been cleaned recently. 😪

Burnt bitter coffee, especially if you drink black coffee with no sugar its almost unbearable

I have mine with milk so at least there's some redemption. Having said that, didn't think to check if it was a different set of beans to Brisbane or not.

I had a strange experience where I left when they called in PER, in the lounge they were showing "boarding soon". By the time I made it to the gate it was showing "final call" even though it was still more than 20 minutes until departure

Not sure if this is the usual but I had great experience using Fly Ahead at Canberra today.

First time using it so didn’t really know what I was doing. I arrived early and spoke to the VA representative at the CBR lounge who arranged the flight change quickly and even told me to grab and seat and brought my new boarding pass to me! Not sure if this is normal but I was really impressed by the personalised service.

Well, this may be slightly off topic, but this afternoon my wife wasn't in the lounge at BNE (at least for a while).

She is a UA Platinum (as well as VA Silver), which according to the VA website, she is entitled to enter a VA lounge, with 1 guest.

She was returning to CBR from a trip to CNS (via BNE) with her friend and was initially denied access to the BNE lounge on the basis that she could not bring in her guest. This was interesting, as on her outward journey to CNS she and her guest had no problems accessing the SYD lounge.

So she rang me and I sent her the chapter and verse from the VA website, and when she showed that, the lounge dragons (reluctantly) allowed her and friend to enter, even with a half-hearted apology.

Seems like the BNE lounge staff need a little more training (including perhaps attitude management)., which is a little odd as BNE is VA's home base... Oh, I forgot, It's also Qld.

The Sydney lounge is a zoo at the moment -- standing room only and despite my polite request, they're not opening the upstairs area. Did something I've never done before: walked out and used my Priority Pass to enter the Rex lounge which is considerably more peaceful. At least I can get a seat here!

I don't know what they're going to do with Sydney long term, but they need to find a way to have upstairs open at peak times as a default. It's barely right-sized for a standard time like 11am on a Thursday before you consider any disruption.

Yeah, not helped this evening by the presence of probably 30-40 people wearing Collingwood gear. I presume the AFLW team and entourage?

Though they’re now on my flight to MEL, which presumably was a factor in my being upgraded to Business!
