I'm in the VA Lounge thread

As a non match fit traveller I mistakenly went through security at MEL forgetting the Lounge was on the wrong side.
I did the same thing my first time going to the lounge in Melb :D I had plenty of time and this was pre Covid so I asked someone and went back out or airside and found it.

I don't get why you can't access from airside in Melbourne. I guess the security screening area is a bit small to add an in or something?

This is changing slowly at MEL T3.

They have installed one way channels down to the baggage claim area.

In the SYD lounge for at least another hour and a half. Party pies and sausage rolls on offer.

Despite having a flex fare and seeing seats still for sale (at $199 as well as >$600), they said I couldn't move to an earlier flight.

In the Lounge until 0900ish as I'm on VA932 to SYD. Check in and security were chockas this morning...approx 10 minute queue for security, but all lanes running. Can guest two if needed.

So mate just got gold and flies out tomorrow at 8am Mel.
THE Virgin lounge is open at what time 4am.. confirmed.
What can you get at that time?
I'm going as guest and can stay while he flies off?
YouTube shows coffee, wrapped sandwiches and some sweats.... is there more breakfast food on offer and less COVID issues now?
Will it be like a ram shed on shearing day?

Yes plenty of brekky options. Mon morning so likely to be busy.

There's generally a rotation of hot food items, avo on toast, eggs, bacon etc. Also fruit salads, cereal, yogurt etc. Pretty decent selection IMO.

Yes, once you're in the lounge, you could theoretically stick around until it closes. Just don't leave the lounge until departure obviously.

It's much better than what we saw during Covid. I haven't seen those truckstop sandwiches in sometime. The buffet is mostly available again as it was pre-covid.

It'll be most busy at 7am and begin to taper off later in the morning.

Currently sitting in the BNE lounge, its quite disgusting here. I would say its approx 70% full and it appears there is no cleaner as there are old plates/food/cups piled everywhere and on a lot of tables, so people cannot sit there

That's because Mattg above who was also in the BNE Lounge left a HUGE mess for you to clean up ;)
