Whoops I read the GCM mileage you gave as the one-way mileage. Silly me.

In that case, EQS count will be 4 (two flights required in each direction). AFAIK EQS count is not subject to any bonuses - it is simply one per eligible sector flown.

EQS is more for those that fly plenty of cheap Y fares which earn less than unity for EQM or EQP. For example, someone who flies weekly SYD/MEL discount Y (on an eligible AAdvantage earning class) return in Australia on QF could be a AA EXP. On QFF, they would only be a Gold.

I'm sure this question has been asked and answered before (in another thread, perhaps). I have no experience, but it would depend on the booking class of the ASA.

The Classic priced JASA, for example, books into the Classic Award bucket, U. This is a non-earning class on AAdvantage. On the other hand, there are obviously the much more expensive JASAs; I believe these book into revenue classes (someone correct me here if not), so they would likely earn if credited to AA.

The seasoned here can advise how to modify your elite number on your booking to AA.

The 'cheap' JASA/FASA's book into U and P class on QF. Travel in these classes (as well as Z and X) on QF flight numbers does not earn anything with AAdvantage...

Another question for those in the know.

Say I start the AA Plat Challenge and I amass say 20,000 eqp in the 3 month period.
Does that mean that I now need an additional 80,000 eqp to hit EXP or do I have to start from 0 again because the 20k was for the Plat Challenge ?

If your 20K EQP's was earned, say this Oct, then you have until Dec 31st to earn the remaining EQP's. Any EQP's earned this year prior to the (Jan onwards) would also be included. If the October EQP's were your first this year then you need to earn another 80K for EXP by end of December.

Say you started you three month challenge on Dec 16th and earned 5K by Dec 31 and the remaining 15K in Jan then you would need to earn another 85K before Dec 31 2015 for EXP.

No!

In that scenario you would have until the end of December 2014 to garner the remaining 80K EQP's. (Any earned in 2014 before your challenge would also count toward the 100k).

They would likely count, but in reality, the points cost would be horrendous.

Here is one example:

LAX-SFO / L / PLT

• Discount Economy fare (L)
• 337 miles flown
• 500 EQM: 337 mi flown subject to 500 minimum EQM guarantee for elites only = 500 EQM
• 500 EQP: L fare = 1.0 EQP/EQM x 500 EQM = 500 EQP
• 1000 RDM: 337 mi flown subject to 500 minimum RDM guarantee for elites only = 500 RDM; 500 minimum mi flown x 100% PLT bonus = 500 Elite Bonus RDM; 500 + 500 = 1000 RDM
• View My Miles: Mileage = 337; Bonus = 663; Total = 1000

I have made bookings and will earn around 20K AA miles already and through Qantas would have earnt only about 4000 points as one of the properties wasn't in any FF program but still got to earn AA miles this way.

And they have a double dip section where can still get your chain status benefits with their bookings.

I am not sure - My price match was for a price that was offered direct on the properties website and they matched that.

I think the T&C say it has to be a publicly available rate.

Just read the help section - says most big chains wont give you status points or nights to bump up your elite status, but most will honor your privileges.

RocketMiles is also good but doesn't let you earn AA miles which is why I don't use it but if you want to earn other American FF miles then it is good.

Ahhh wrong. AA miles definitely available through Rocketmiles. 1000 miles per night minimum too, far better than pointshound. No double dipping though but thats only available at select USA hotels on pointshound anyway

Just checked out Rocketmiles - I was sure they didn't offer AA miles but I stand corrected.

You can see a good comparison of them at:

Apparently RocketMiles sometimes offers a smaller range of Hotels but worth checking out first.
