WITH ethereal views like these, it's easy to see how this pilot became totally addicted to heights.
Karim Nafatni, a commercial pilot and photographer based in Dubai, has documented his daily routine in a series of jaw-dropping, otherworldly images.

They show the earth in a light most of us don't get the chance to witness - 11,000 metres up, with an almost 180-degree view from the coughpit.

Judging from the snaps, he may just have the best office views ever.

Whats the difference if he slips put for a leak. How is a photograph any less safe ?

Why?
Whats the difference if he slips put for a leak. How is a photograph any less safe ?

If you follow the ask the pilot thread you will know why, a good pilot won't have the time to even take photos, especially over the top of DXB, an area that's quickly becoming one of the busiest in the world for traffic.

Maybe, but the captain is sitting there flying the thing, again, how is it unsafe?
No time for photos, but tine to eat, take a wee, wander out and chat to the hosties, seriously, its a flawed argument on safety

I think what Markis is trying to imply is that it's fine to do all those things you mentioned MarkD when the plane is on auto pilot not so close to landing/takeoff when all their attention has to be on their job.

Saying that he could possible be assigned as relief pilot and therefore be able to take the photos without impeding the 2 pilots controlling the plane.

There is the added safety issue of paper cuts when one prints out the photos on photographic paper. I can't tell you how many times I have suffered from paper cuts when handling photographs.

There's nobody in the left hand seat in at least one of the pics over DBX. I had the same thoughts as Markis.
