In a word or 2, What irks you about Qantas??

Not being able to see available seats when making a booking. I landed the worst PE seat LAX - SYD on an upcoming flight and could have flown another day. EF can see the seats, so why can't Qantas put a link in the flights like AA does (it's not worth my while to join EF).

  • Lack of customer focus/service
  • constant delays (or is it just me?)
  • Upgrade credits
  • Platinum anytime access
  • complimentary pre-allocated exit rows
  • Jetstar (getting in the way)
Nothing serious but....

Been there, done that. For my wife and kids who fly ever now and again (we just gave QF $10K out of my own pocket for flights for the 4 of us to the US), they will NEVER get the loyalty bonus even though all of there flying is with QF, because they just don't fly enough to get 450 SCs in a year. So much for rewarding loyalty.

I agree. Whenever I fly, it is always with qantas. I've never flown another airline within Australia. However, I simply don't fly enough to get to gold FF level etc. Shouldn't qantas be rewarding my loyalty even if I don't fly with them weekly?

I don't think so. I'm in a similar boat, I spend a huge amount every 18 months or so on QF J tickets to their most expensive destinations, then a bunch of discount Y interstate but will never get past silver (well, not for long). I assume they have modeled it and we would not be top-tier customers. Eventually LTG is a possibility I guess.

Yeah, I guess we'll just have to wait to reach LTG. But what I'm saying is that for a loyalty program, I hardly feel like my loyalty is being rewarded. When I do fly, I always fly with qantas, regardless of price etc. Just because I don't fly heaps, doesn't mean I'm not loyal to qantas.
