Indonesian Visa Discussion (Including Bali)

Hiya - flying to Bali on Friday arriving around 7pm.

Could anyone share their latest experience with the eGates? If you have your VoA, is it literally walking into the immirgration hall and going through the gates without much waiting (like in Singapore)?

I probably will pay the Bali tax, just out of goodwill.

Cheers
Yes. Go to a vacant e-gate, scan your passport, smile for the camera and walk through to the baggage hall.

Reporting back: Arrived shortly before 7pm from Singapore on SQ. Gate next to immigration hall, through the gates in under 2 mins, customs declaration scanned and no one asked for the Bali tax. In my Grab a few minutes later. So basically, gate-to-Grab in about 15 minutes which is similar to Changi.

Kudos to the Indo government where they deserve it.

This is a game changer for weekend trips.

Well I just completed applying for a VOA for Bali (in advance of travel) - here are a few traps if you've never done this before:-

You must supply the name and address of your hotel (there are multiple address fields, including things like province, city, village, immigation office - !!??)) - all you need to do is (assuming you are staying in a hotel/resort) is enter the name of your hotel EXACTLY as shown on your booking and the web site will complete the other fields for you - but if you make any kind of error in the hotel name (even a typo which you backspace over and correct) this does not work - there is no way to get past this point. You must start the whole application over from scratch.

Once your application is completed and you have paid your fee online you receive and e-mail stating that your visa has been approved and you should download it using the huge DOWNLOAD button - this does not work - in fact the visa is attached as a PDF to the e-mail.

I must say this whole process took me hours to figure out (I had a few other issues which I won't bore you with - just to say be very careful with every field because if you try to EDIT your application - you essentially need to start over from scratch).
Hey there I am travelling to bali in few days have got evoa done but there is a spelling mistake in Last name of my child a 1 letter mistake... So do we have to buy another voa ??

Bracing myself to take on the e-VOA website nightmare.

The site says you can apply for multiple people at once. Anyone successfully done this?

Is it easy? Tips?

In other news, I see the flurry of stories in December reporting that the $50 fee would be scrapped for Australians has come to nothing. :(

Families will have a lot of fun having to present a tourist levy form and an eVisa form for each person at the immigration counter.
For Aussies, if you do the eVOA, Tourist Levy and Customs Declaration online before travelling, it is now really fast at the Airport.
When arriving in Bali, you can ignore the Immigration counters and the long queues and head to the left and directly to the electronic passport gates. Quick and efficient. Your eVOA is linked to your passport, so there is no need to show it to anyone.

After some advice please from those who have done multiple eVOA in one go:

I applied for me, Mrs H and Miss H successfully as a "batch".

As reported up thread, payment is then required one-by-one per eVOA.

I successfully paid for me and Mrs H, but when I click the payment button for Miss H, her application and details appear, but the fields at the bottom of screen (credit card etc) do not appear.

So far I've tried:
- Different browsers (x3)
- Different laptops (x3)
- New application for Miss H only
- New application for Miss H using different email address.

And obviously I've checked the details closely to ensure they are correct.

Anyone encountered this and know of a fix?

Alternatively, any other suggestions to avoid standing in a queue at DPS late at night?

We arrived around 9pm last night having done the online visa application, the customs declaration and yes, the Bali tax. The queues for the VOA were awful. We used the egates that were not particularly busy as only online visa applications can use them, luggage was out very fast, and then the declarations were scanned. Out to the drivers within 30 minutes. People were lining up at the customs scan area presuming their VOA was what was being scanned. Nope. Back to those very busy computer terminals. And no one asked to see we'd paid the Bali tax. Winner.

And I think Captain Halliday made it out fast too! 😁

Indeed we did. Even allowing for arrival at a gate that seemed like a half-marathon from Immigration.

It was E-gates for me and Mrs H with no delay and the adjacent manual desk for Miss H due to her age.

I didn’t run a stop watch but I’d say less than 3 mins.

We were HLO, so next stop was customs where there was no queue. We scanned QR code and continued. Total time: 3.65 seconds.

All up, aircraft to the waiting area for Grab was less than 15 mins… most of which was taken up increasing our step count.
