Hey I do like the use of the word "a-VA-lanche" here

I uh, totally intended that xD

(and to give a semblance of relevance to this reply - can also confirm J dom fares are showing under the promotional rate as well. Can't see it being different w/int J fares).

Clearly the 3 posts above.

1. Were not looking over the last 2 weeks.
The REAL 30% off awards were in fact 30% lower. Fancy that concept! 20300 Syd to Adelaide is normal but I was seeing 14210 all week - several flights each day. Flagged as Points Sale.

2. Think 31,600 points for a standard coach award of 12,100 is a sale of some kind. You are nuts - that is 3 times the NORMAL rate.

Serfty might think 55,800 points one person one way in coach is a bargain of some kind. Clearly it is not, to anyone except him. If he is talking about an OZ/LAX (he oddly does not say) ..... 110,000 points RT for a coach ticket that you can buy all day long at sub $1000 retail these days and earn a lot of points and status credits is a nonsense rate..

Again for anyone who HAS been looking, the 30% off fares were CLEARLY marked and they were not there after midnight Feb 27.

1) I have indeed, searched the last 2 weeks, because I made a booking under this promotion last week.
2) Calling people nuts because you're frustrated, doesn't endear you to anyone here and I'd politely ask you to refrain from such comments please.
3) Name dropping - please exercise some diplomacy. You are insulting some very knowledgeable* people who moderate this forum and all they've done is try to assist you.

(*me excluded, I don't know jack but I do know an irate customer when I see one).

I am now booked to fly to AFF ADL in October on points. Economy X there and Business back, 5400 & 10800 (total 16200). Normal cost would have totalled 23300:

You inspired me, serfty.

MEL-LAX-SEA//YVR-SEA-LAX-MEL

116,900 + $215 tax.
MEL-LAX-MEL is in Y+, the rest in Delta Y.

Decided the extra 16,000 points was worthwhile for the connecting flights, as separately to buy they were $490 on DL and at least this way it puts them on the same itinerary. Maybe in hindsight I could've ponied up for the status credits, but whatever.

Taken a punt on work schedule I will know tomorrow. As long as I call back within 24 hours then I can cancel and get everything back anyway. At worst, $60 lost.

I do feel as though this trip is a step too far. But I had two dates I had to fly in and out of the USA, and there was Y+ availability on both. Given how needles in hay stacks are more plentiful than VA premium rewards across the Pacific, it's one of those "maybe it's meant to be" scenarios...

Well it looks like the sale ended at 00:00 AEDT rather than AEST after all, despite what the T&Cs say...

And VA is even based in Brisbane, right? Good job.

I wondered if this would happen.

They'll just say S meant summer.

I've got one of these tickets booked, but I'd like to change it.

Has anyone tried a date change on one of these discounted awards? Just wondering if I have to cough up more points, or not.

Cheers

Interesting ... I guess if the fare bucket, say Z Class, is available there is a chance they may simply rebook you for the $60 fee.

I called and was able to change the booking to 2 days later (when there was an available points award), for $60. No additional points. Glad I booked when I did, even though I wasn't 100% sure on my dates!
Great result ... I guess a simple re-validation, not a reissue (with the latter often causing repricing).
