Apologies if this is covered elsewhere but I can find any other threads or recent TRs?

With QFi arrivals from LHR, SIN and soon FCO all into PER T3, what is the arrival / transit experience?

I managed to secure some relatively short notice whY award flights SYD-SIN//SIN-PER-SYD. There were some roundabout options to SIN (SYD-MEL-PER-SIN) which potentially were interesting as a PC member (earning SCs) but required an o/n in MEL, however would have provided a chance to sample the PER int transit experience.

QF72 (SIN-PER) was attractive as it’s a “day flight” - albeit arrives around mid-night. I assume “transiting“ in PER overnight for the 6am (or later) flight to SYD wouldn’t be pleasant (if even practical?). So I will sleep in town and jump on a relatively civilised 9am flight home (alas QF6 didn’t come up as an option but not sure the extra effort in PER or SYD would be worthwhile).

Anyway, is there arrival DF in T3? How good/bad is the immigration arrival process? Anything else to be aware of?

I recently landed in PER on QF72. No smart gates, and the bags got onto the carousel about 45 mins after landing.

It was after 1am before I got to the Hilton.

I might HLO that sector! (If not all)

I've arrived on both QF72 and QF10 into PER T3. I've either been in J or towards the front of Y so near the front of the immigration queue. Also been been pretty quick. All bar once I've been HLO (one of the QF10 flights I had checked baggage and don't recall it taking too long) and through pretty quickly.

Basically you're the only flight arriving. So if HLO your speed through is going to be determined by where in the queue for disembarking the aircraft.

There is a small duty free section but I've always hurried through as arriving on QF72 I just want to get home and to bed. Travel time into the Perth CBD should be 15 minutes at most at that time of night. If not mucking about is important, just jump in a waiting taxi rather than waiting around for an Uber.

As a previously regular visitor to PER ex-SYD, often arriving on the last flight in I know what you mean about getting though and out ASAP (especially with a 2 or 3 hr TMZ change against you!).

I‘m currently as far forward in whY as I can as a WP, so that’s a head start. I’ll probably beat the crew to the CP! 🤣

I guess the downside of avoiding the non-stop red-eyes to SYD is the lack of pre-order arrivals DF (1st world problems but the spirits collection is still suffering from Covid travel bans…). I guess I’ll have to make do with DF in Singas!

I think you'll be through pretty quickly and without issue then. I'm like a man on a mission when I arrive so any slow walkers etc, I'll be right past them.

Suspect you might still be able to order DF pickup on arrival. Hopefully that wouldn't slow you down too much.

With only 3 international arrivals in a day, its not that bad.
Small terminal, T3 and that part of the airport as it is, I flew into it when T3 was still VAd quite a while back.
They would have modernised the terminal to have international arrivals and departure (passport and screening), but I would say, its not a big huge airport.
4 hours should be enough time.
But I think I saw on ET that all departing international passengers in J (& of course QF SG, WP and P1), can now use the T3 transit lounge, of course, with max people in there, they will send the passengers to the QF T4 lounge, but with only 3 flights, I would say, that it would probably occur not all too often.
DF on EF wrote the article, think it was either yesterday or early today's ET email.

Oh, I see, you are most interested in arrivals, rather than QFi PER T3 departures.

Yep, passed thru many times on both QF and VA. TBH, I always thought those terminals were well past their used by dates. The new VA terminal was a breath of fresh air and I think QF missed an opportunity to have a similar pier the other side of T1 (as per the master plan - putting aside PER airport commercial shenanigans….).

BTW, has the train started running yet?

The arrival times in DRW are equally lousy but in terms of early morning rather than late night (eg PER). But the DRW-PER flights get in somewhat earlier and since I have a 5 hour drive ex-airport, why fly direct when you can connect? And both the SIN-DRW and DPS-DRW flights with JQ max add-ons are useful SC earners.....

Make certain your flights are useful wandering

No news on the "Perth airport train service" as yet.
I do keep track on that website, the WA govt one, also on TransPerth website, no mention of trains on the airport line as yet.
Maybe next year, what with testing etc.
The 380 or 40 bus is your best friend, need a TransPerth Smartrider card though as no change provided and exact money needed.
Guess bus drivers won't give change but the buses must have coin slots.
No Smartrider vendor or agent at Perth Airport.
Or Uber.
Edit: as of 16 May 2022, they are still doing testing, smoke ventilation type:
So, I would say it would a little while yet before trains start on the Perth airport line.

The train should still be this year, but sadly they haven't put in a firm date.

While the rule states that the bus drivers won't give change, I've found that it isn't enforced, but I wouldn't rely on that.

Train isn't running. It's also completely pointless for T3/T4 with the station not evenly remotely close to the terminal. It would be close to 1km away in a direct line. Would not be a fun walk. Suspect they buses that go to the long term car parks might swing by the station but if you're only heading to the CBD this would add so much travel time percentage wise. T1 station should be right at the terminal though.

Yep. I was aware of that. All part of the master plan to get commercial pax over there and leave the old areas for the HiVis crowd.

So closing the loop, I passed through last night, with an o/n stay in town and then flight home to SYD this morning. QF72 was rescheduled and running about 1 hr late before I even left for Changi. So I decided to purchase my DF booze in SIN and since I was HLO (and snagged an upgrade), I was one of the first out and through in minutes. Easy as.

Straight to plenty of waiting taxis and less than 20mins to hotel and in bed shortly thereafter. Pity about the delay eating into some Zzz time. I also peaked too soon and found myself back at T4 J Lounge 2+ hrs before the flight home (not something I used to do ex-PER in the past). Uber turned up in minutes, no traffic and match fit pax at security (must be all that hi-viz?). I could have easily had an extra hour of Zzz’s…

So the key take away for those of us on the east coast who loathe the “red eye” flights home from SIN (especially in whY) might look at this option. Yes, there’s the added cost of a hotel bed and transport to/from PER, but it’s a lot less than Y+ or trying your luck with an upgrade.

I haven’t looked extensively, but it doesn’t seem to price competitively as a revenue fare but plenty of options using points. If available, QF72 -> QF6 would be a leisurely combo.

I have no idea what it would be like to hang around after QF72 lands and then head out on a 5/6am flight east but that would defeat the purpose.

OffTopic: The train should be starting next year, and the WA govt have "promised"/has "promised" that there will be no "gate fee".
I tend to get the bus, but when the PER airport train service starts, I am one of the those that will take it.OnTopic.

As mentioned earlier, there’s no station at T3/4, only T1. Hopefully PER and QF will get their act together and commit to the T1 expansion (another pier like VA on the the other side of T1). But that’s years away…

I visited the Redcliffe station earlier in the month, and can confirm there is signage indicating a T3/4 shuttle bus at the station. While it is possible to walk the short distance, due to luggage I'm sure most people will prefer the shuttle

I corrected the timing issue in your post :)
