Cancel the request and attempt to re-add it, I dare you :P

And yes, it did offer it to me during the recent promotion but I'm happy with my seat assignment so didn't bother.

Actually just checked again and the fare is a mixture of O and S, these two sectors are S,

I got my upgrade to j on my 14 July flight from Mel to Lax. Somewhat surprisingly J on the flight over was about 2/3 full so very much enjoyed the change of scenery from Y - could explain why they are getting people to experience J in the hope they'll pay for it next time. Could also be due to the end of school hols, and the everyone getting over the novelty of the high AUD against USD.

As someone traveling overseas for work occasionally as a medical researcher on tax payers dollars we have no choice but to travel on a sale fares. Anyway, with a very young family having the chance to avoid being a zombie for a couple of days with jet lag is a bonus and will throw my hat into the ring to get a flat bed. I now have the strategy to buy an upgradable fare on the way back as a minumum ($100-$200 more than the base fare) to at least have an opportunity to be in a more sleep friendly environment - EF is still showing J9 C2 D0 W6 R0 T0 so fingers are crossed for the way back (or at least Y+) - especially with the kids sick (happens almost without fail every time I go away).

Despite the debate about the value of using QFF points for upgrades, at the end of the day using QFF points is a horses for courses game - but the more economical use for our personal needs is our common bond ;).

I've decided it's not worth the 40k points for me to go from 80A (with QP membership) to an unknown business seat. However, I can't figure out how to cancel my request - can it be done online or do I have to call?

GO into the booking at qantas.com and there's a cancel tab. Easy done.

Alas I have trawled through my booking and upgrade pages at length, to no avail. Might be something screwy since it was an O class promo.

Will call tomorrow.

Must be due to the promo, I have an O class upgrade lodged for family and likewise there is no "cancel" button .
Which is good for them as they don't want to cancel ;)

The "cancel upgrade request" button will show for some bookings - I have not ascertained why.

when it does not appear you need to telephone Qantas to ask for the request to be cancelled.

It'll be the O class fare. Just call them - wont cost you any points to cancel it (prior to the day of travel).

Just received a QF email advising me that my upcoming SYD/LAX/SYD flights were eligible for upgrade from Y to Y+ or J. Currently have 40A-D allocated on QF107 & 66A-C,H on QF12 ($640 extra if allocated at check-in I presume - exit row). Is it worth it to request upgrade/s or stay where currently allocated?

It's such a personal thing AV8. I've been offered same, but for MEL-AKL - for me (while I have flown this route in J several times before, and would again), given my current points situation (not that many, and a bunch reserved for an upgrade from Y+ to J SIN-MEL next year) I won't be doing it. But it is just a 4 hour flight and I'm in row 4. Transpac, dependent on points situation I'd look very favourably on an upgrade to J (or even Y+) if I could get it - we're talking a 14 or 15 hour flight here - huge difference, so I'd be looking to be as comfortable as possible.

I got todays offer, I have economy tickets booked SYD to NRT and Return for 20 Dec and 6 Jan, + 1 does not want to use the 120,000 points to upgrade the $1200 tickets to PE but I think its a great offer, I have 230,000 points ATM so why not.

I am sure she will get over it once we settly in for the trip.

I could have put in for Business but 180,000 is a little much to use for that

You shouldn't lose your seat allocation if you request an upgrade, only if it comes in and then you'll be in a better seat anyway.

I wouldn't go getting your hopes up people. On the last promotion for these upgrades we requested them on 3 flights on a SYD-LHR rtn and got sweet FA. YMMV
On the upside the points balance remains healthy and we will be able to avail ourselves of the Secret Santa option in the FF store

Secret Santa?

Sent from my iPhone using AustFreqFly app... which is rather interesting.

Thanks for the tip!! I have just put in for DH to upgrade to J/Y+ on MEL-LHR-MEL later this month. I am travelling Y+ (work is paying) and he had banned me from putting in for an upgrade to J because he had a non-upgradeable fare and it would be 'unfair' for me to travel in J and him stuck in Y. Now we will leave it up for the Qantas gods to decide which seats we sit in.

Dejavu again!

I received this promo offer today and now it is tooooo tempting. I know the SYD-SIN is only a short hop but from a discounted O bucket fare, this makes it all worthwhile. This will be my 4th QF 380 flight and I was so getting ready to experience my first A380 Y experience but now I might have to test my luck and see if I can avoid the Y experience for another day.

Are those getting the new round of offers travelling in the lower-demand time (ie. xmas/new year) where J demand is relatively low and Y demand relatively high? Perhaps QF trying to get some points back rather than op-up pax?

We received an offer in March for our flights to LHR and decided to apply for the LHR to HKG sector. Flights were booked in economy and we applied for Business class. Mr jojen was QC Bronze at the time.

We were over the moon to see that our upgrade had come through. As I have read on here, once you sample business you will never want to go back to economy !!! We both managed to make the most of the experience and really enjoyed the food and wine offered. Even managed to get a few hours sleep. We were upstairs in 12 A B which made it seem very private and the cabin was extremely quiet.

If you have the opportunity to apply go for it and if you are lucky enough to win the Qantas lottery make the most of it !!!!

It doesn't look like it in my situation, loads look very light for my upcoming SYD-SIN flight on 17/11. EF shows F8 A8 J9 C9 D9 I9, in Y there is are 9's everywhere incl. X7.

In June I had the same promotion, same flight SYD-SIN flight on 16/06. We were booked on a N or O class fare, upgrade to J was successful for me and +1.

When does this offer close?

IE when do the upgrade requests have to be registered by?

tks
