International Travel Ban Illegal?

I realise that the exit restrictions are frustrating. I am personally affected by them too. But legal challenges are likely to be a waste of time and money. Australia being a happy-go-lucky, freedom-living place is a myth. The reality is that Australia is highly and tightly (over) regulated and (over) legislated, with federal (which includes the High Court) courts which take an expansive view of, and defer to, federal government power.

I would like to be hopeful, however the 3 month travel ban keeps on getting extended every time they reassess it. When decisions are made that are illogical it’s hard to predict when they may be reversed. But looking at the criteria for the 3-month travel bans it's easy to see why it keeps...

I'm with you on the rant. I'm in the fortunate position of possessing permanent residence elsewhere, which will convert to citizenship some time in the next couple of years. Though that is of course a double-edged sword as I still have family and friends in Australia.

I think the biggest obstacle to a legal challenge is the English rule English rule (attorney's fees) - Wikipedia, which requires you to pay the other side's legal expenses if you lose.

Yeah, this thread probably should be closed down, even Clive Palmer has given up, no one prepared to put their money where their very big mouth is.
