How have people been going with Y or Y+ to J upgrades on long haul flights eligible for Chauffeur Drive?

In particular:


Does a points upgrade count as a "complimentary upgrade" because the points are assigned to have "no value"?
If the upgrade came before T-48 and was eligible, you could book it...

Comp upgrades are not points upgrades. So WP and WP1's with upgrade requests that process before the cut off time for the driver can book the service.

Thanks, the next question would be - what kind of comp upgrades exist that notify the pax prior to T-48?
Space available and op-ups are done at check-in/boarding...

I was going to yes, then remembered I'm only doing a Dxb-Mel leg which is why I could request an upgrade. I think Mel-Lhr I could only request for the whole trip as its one flight number.

Yes that is what I am seeing, although I am sure you used to be able to do the one leg? 45k and 25k
 
If booked as one segment MEL-LHR then you can only request an upgrade the entire way.

If booked as two segments MEL-DXB and DXB-LHR then you can request individually.

Note that such as MEL-DXB and DXB-LHR can't be on the same flight number on the same day on the same booking as that would fall afoul of "Married Segment" rules.

So, you can book QF9 MEL-(QF9)-LHR, MEL-(QF9)-xDXB-(QF1)-LHR, but you should not be able to book MEL-(QF9)-xDXB-(QF9)-LHR.
 
I don't know if this is a computer glitch, but my upgrade request on QF28 came in 60 hours before the scheduled departure time and I'm only a lowly WP. I thought upgrades for WP were only processed from 48 hours before the flight. New improvement or empty a/c? Not complaining:lol:...just wondering:mrgreen:

Mine as a WP have come through at -60 will be interested to see how my next ones will be as a WP 1
 
Other advantages of this is extra SCs (40 more I think?) and an extra hour or so in the EK F lounge in DXB.

Should have thought of this before I booked.

And another chance to lose my luggage!! Already have a few of those.....

Still nothing at T-39, missed the potential Chauffeur drive option at T-48... (Y -> J)

Funny how Flightstats is showing F8 A8, J9 C7 D4, Y is open (N9 Q9 O9 and almost all Y buckets are 9 except V2 and G0 E0 X0) - I am in L. PE is W6 R6 T5 so it's not exactly a heavy load...

I've been checking and F/J loadings have not changed in the past week, if anything they have gone up (was F7 A7, as low as C5 D3 a couple of days ago) - would have thought that some P1 or CLs would be processed at the 7 day period.

If anything this is a data point for a WP not getting anything at T-60 or even T-48 as has been reported...

Nothing has changed besides buckets being J5 C5 D4..

Emerald City here we come! The only other available seats are 21K 22J...

I have 12J (A380) preselected and I can't OLCI - has anyone had trouble OLCI with a points upgrade before?

Received a seat alert from EF four hours later.
Not that I'm complaining, but it does rather queer the pitch for op-up roulette.

That's so super !! I am in for the same deal still waiting though. Beginning of October.

Happy to report that this ended with a red light / beep at the gate and an Op-Up to F.
Not a bad result from what started as a sale PE fare.
Having followed the numbers on EF, I reckon they'd been overselling PE for some time.
 
A weird thing happening with my booking this morning which I don't understand.
Flight today, upgrade request for J-F. Within the last 24 hours the ghost upgrade segment appeared and disappeared. Now looking at the booking there is no upgrade request visible at all. Normally it says "upgrade to etc, and 5 hours etc" or if within that time frame "request declined" but I've never seen the upgrade request disappear ?? :confused:
Of note I also ticked the "upgrade at airport option" for this booking.
Has anyone else had this experience recently?
