I haven't quite bought mine yet although it will come. My colleagues who bought the wifi-only version generally are annoyed they didn't pay a bit more for 3G. It isn't a major problem, just annoying enough that they really regret not shelling out a bit more.

I have to say, I carry my Macbook around everywhere and have to pull out the 3G modem pretty often. I'll be glad to ditch it and pay for a 3G ipad plan instead, which will obviate the need for a dangling dongle that keeps getting disconnected whenever I move the notebook.

No need . I have a wi -fi iPad, MacBook Pro and iPhone and they all work perfectly with a Netcomm My Zone . So far tried in US , NZ, AU next month UK . Best $300 I've spent this year ;)

It's only $150 more for a 3G iPad over a wifi one, and it has astounding battery life (I've managed 4-5 solid hours of 3G use with only a 35% battery depletion).

The MyZone's are great, but the limited battery life on them does restrict things slightly.

I'd go (and did go) with a 3G iPad any day over a non one (and there's quite a few phones now that do hot-spot access like the MyZone, just not the iPhone unless you jailbreak it).

Vodafone released a $129 WIFI modem today so they are getting cheaper, but as I mentioned before you are using two batteries at the same time.

A new seven-inch version of the Apple iPad which has already been labelled iPad 2 is tipped to be launched in time for Xmas.

According to the Economic Daily News, a Chinese newspaper-language newspaper based in Taiwan, a smaller version of the Apple iPad is already in pre-production.
According to ChannelNews sources Paul Shin Devine the Apple Supply Manager charged last week with taking $1M in bribes from Asian component suppliers was directly involved in securing components for the new iPad and that this will make up part of the evidence against him when his case is eventually heard.

Im happy with my iphone 4, same processor, 2 cameras just smaller screen. I think until they put a webcam on it its not worth it - plus needs a usb port!

There’s been rumours of a 7-inch version since before the first was released, I’m just not sure why they’d make such a popular product smaller. I can’t imagine it’d make typing much easier.

The iPhone 4 has the same size screen though, with 4x the resolution? And the front facing camera is pretty much a webcam, is it not?

A USB port will likely come soon as the EU passed that specification requiring all mobiles to be charged through the same connection, a mini-USB port. However don’t mistakingly believe Apple will allow you to do much else but charge and sync through the USB port! ;)

Sorry meant the Ipad doesnt have a camera which is why I prefer the iphone4

*bump* ;)

FYI , DJ (that's David Jones) staff can now get 10% off iPads etc (previously it was 5%) so it's a good discount if you work or know someone that does work there. Also if you are travelling you get the GST component back, so it's a decent 18.2% off the RRP eg. save $169 for 32gb 3G version (rrp $929).

Question; is there a good photo APP, preferably free, that I can use to transfer photos from PC -> iPad? and also has good sorting? as you know we all here travel alot, we like to show our photos to family etc.

The default photo app doesnt have great sorting. I use the camera connection kit to move photos onto the iPad for review and then just sync the same SD card to my home computer.

Just one point on the "free" photo app...

iPhoto/Aperture and iTunes do the syncing well enough for me.

Good to see some price competition in the marketplace with Big W selling them at a slight discount from today.

Maybe they're importing them from the US ;)

I now have several friends asking me to buy them an iPad when i'm back in the US in a few weeks. The dollar is great:)

I’m waiting for Big W to sell the Apple TV so I can earn some points, as I don’t earn points on my debit card from Apple, so the value is there for me…

My mate got a 64GB 3GS / WiFi, wireless keyboard and the SD/USB photo loader for a tad on $1100USD at the Las Vegas iStore.

Walmart had them as well about $50 cheaper however networked locked - we rung iStore at Chadstone and they would charge $45 to reset the iPad.

I too bought the SD Card /USB photo loader - they were $29.95 for the two, a few weeks back in KL they were $65 SIN and most probably knock off's!

If you have an iPad and you have a camera, you need the SD photo loader. You plug it in, insert the SD card, and photo transfer is just about immediate. 10/10!

Hmm, someone's been telling your mate porkies munitalP - there's no such thing as a network-locked iPad 3G (with the exception of Softbank-only iPads in Japan, which can still take non-Japanese SIMs).

Certainly not US iPads, wherever you buy them (my own is a Best Buy-bought US iPad). :-|

WOW sight and sound have 10% off all Apple products today and tomorrow. Good to see some price competition.

We were told by both Walmart and iStore that the Walmart iPads were network locked to AT&T or Verizon - can't remember which.

I have also lust looked on appleinsider.com and they confirmed that the iPad will only work on these networks in the USA

Is this network locking?

AppleInsider | Verizon sees Wi-Fi-only iPad as opportunity to sell 3G data plans

If it's not, my friend spent a few dollars more to by from the iShop...

I don't think any porkies have been told, at least not on purpose anyway ;)

how much are people paying for their plans out of interest sake?

What would be the 'average' download for the month - silly question I know!!!
