Is Hobart the worst Qantas Club in Australia?

Very much a regional lounge and the only capital city lounge before security. That's something that should be fixed. Makes the rush to the plane a little harder :)

Not really being a regional traveller are lounges at those airports before security?

Mackay and Rockhampton regional lounges are both before security although I believe the new Mackay one currently under development will become a Qantas Club and the entrance will be after security once finished. Cairns and Townsville are both Qantas Clubs and are after security also.

Having been through HBA QP a dozen or so times this year, I can say it is clearly in need of an update. The staff are great, wifi is very quick compared to the old MEL (Telstra) wifi and the bar is stocked. All of this is outweighed by the fact it is tiny so for QF1012 on a Friday night there is not even standing room an hour before the flight, food needs to be changed and as previously mentioned it is before security. It is much better than the departure lounge in HBA but for a Capital City it's disappointing.

Yes to Port Hedland and Karratha.

It is not the worst Qantas Club in Australia by any stretch of the imagination.

Realistically it is only a regional lounge and from memory there are 4 flights a day, 1 to SYD and 3 to MEL, so I cannot see Qantas spending any money on refurbishments in a hurry.

Don't forget the JQ flights out of Hobart. If you can't get a QF flight out at least the lounge is some consolation for having to suffer JQ, and when the JQ flight is delayed at least you can get food and drink.

This isn't totally true.

The Hobart Qantas Club closes after the last QF flight. No lounge access for those on the following JQ flight(s).

Yes you get booted out at 5pm, after the last QF flight.

Given there s no VA lounge in HBA why would QF upgrade facilities?

I wonder how VA view the tassie market?

It's certainly not their strongest.

Tassie has always been tough on airlines and how to profitably service it. QF have finally nailed LST and DPO but I know they are still working on HBA (there was talk of QF Link making an appearance).

VA are still playing around with LST and HBA. Certainly the departure of Tiger has helped them a bit.

Looks better and bigger than KGI.

not sure when you saw KGI last, but it is much bigger than it used to be, including moving the door from next to the check in desk to airside and making it larger..

Yes the point is poignant.

I dont believe there is a CL?

It is 'Hobart International Airport BTW'...not sure how...

In the state parliament there are 5 electorates and 5 members per electorate. so that makes 25 members and then there is the upper house which is full of dead beats who may fly away once every blue moon to watch a footy match in melbouren.

With the federal parliament, there are 5 members and 12 senators. It is the only real QC in the state... the other two in Devonport and Launceston are only regional lounges which arent as good.

No CL! as if! probably only 50 tasmanian residents actually have a CL Membership!!! may be more but how are we to know when qantas says they dont share those sorts of things.

Yeah well as for the international bit, Air Newzealand did a flight a day or something to christchurch. That all stopped in about 02' or something.
