Is International Virgin Reward availability now worse that QANTAS?

Thanks everyone. I was looking in January 10th-18th 2 x J LAX-BNE/SYD - will just keep an eye out.

I have confirmed SQ J Booking LAX-NRT-SIN-MEL but I am thinking we would much prefer the less direct option at the end of our holidays. Of course the other issue I have is that I only have 100k VA points for now as don't want to move anymore over unless I can guarantee a seat.

As Serfty mentioned, around 300 days seems to be the sweetish spot at the moment.
Your Jan dates might be a little problematic due to school hols,post-Xmas etc, as opposed to the juicy November releases.
The SQ J scenic route is not a terribly bad contingency!

I think too early for your Jan dates. But it never hurts to keep looking from 330 days out. i think some should be released around March based on the 300 days release for Z seats

Thats a costly reward flight. Reward flights should be a short as possible. Contingency yes. If it was me I would cancel the outbound leg if I cant find a inbound leg on rewards.

I won't be dumping the KF reward until I can secure some seats coming back on VA at least. Will just see how it goes.

Duh! Went to the Rewards booking site and realized after a while that the points are for 1-way travel. Total noob mistake.
Still 250k points from NAB is more than enough for 1 business class return ticket from Singapore to London. Will have to accumulate more points to get 2 tickets.

That's an unusual reward being a Sunday. Based on previous posts here it seems most rewards are TWT - Tues,Wed, Thurs

And around the 12June there is availability MWF prior to 12 Jun and availability MTW after 12 June

(School holidays in QLD start 25 June and NSW start 2 July)

I found plenty of J rewards LAX-SYD/BNE in October and a smattering v.v when I was looking this past weekend. A couple of weeks ago there were exactly zero both ways during all of October and November, but sale fares were also showing on Y seats

Maybe they now block J Rewards when they have a sale on? I'm sure in past years I've purchased sale Y+ fares and upgraded on points

I withdraw all previously stated negative comments regarding availability. I just snagged 4 J Saver Reward seats MEL-LAX in September this year!!! Seems to be significantly more seats up now, so hopefully everything will return to normality now the new seats are a known quantity?

You mean 4 J reward seats. J saver seats implies a non reward seat. And MEL-SYD/BNE revenue seat then reward from SYD/BNE-LAX?


But yes reward availability has gone up. Which day of the week are your reward seats on. Recent posts suggest availability only on Tues, Wed, Thurs and only occasionally on the other days.

I really wanted to try VA new J ret from LAX later this year but zero availability sees us booked into QF F LAX-MEL.

Just playing around on VA site today and voila up pops 2 X J LAX-BNE-MEL 1 day later than our ideal LAX dep date but we can find a way to waste a day in LA so I booked them. 188K pts + $170 I think incl VA $50 booking fee. Really excited to try the new product trans pac.

Oh ok sorry - thought it was a response to my post - when you do seat J selection online it displays seats pointing straight ahead but in 1-2-1 config.
