Is Qantas Actually Listening?

I'm sure QF do not listen and do not care. If they did they would not keep degrading the overall offering and adding to the list of enhancements to WP status which includes the following amongst others:

extra benefits now kick in at 2400 SC and not 2100 SC

loss of luggage allowance (was 4x32kg=128kg bags; now 60 kg in J)

lifting of benefits for SG and PS at same SC but no equivalent for WP

loss of MEL WP call centre

loss of CD to USA (it really does not cost that much: I just booking my own in LHR and it cost £40, i.e. similar to HEX and taxi)

decrease in quality of food and beverage in J on QFi

mis-selling of benefits (a biscuit and drink are not full service)

loss of spa access in LHR .......

Even after reading this thread over the last hour, when it's slammed in your face the 'Enhancements' surely are numerous

Will QF listen? when we're reminded of the masses in QFF via Woolworths and others i can see the bean counters, with glee, weighing up the blind and oblivious general populace against the minority status bearing FF (us!). An outcome i believe will be to our detriment purely through the facts and figures. After all i have not really heard the Media run with this after the initial sensation- so on popularity " the majority of the FF agree with the enhancements" through usual ignorance

The usual voices will rise when QFi is on its unrecoverable deathbed...to no avail.

Thank God it's Friday 13th

Big brother must have been reading your thoughts - this came out earlier today...

Which frequent flyer scheme should you join?

Recent and far-reaching changes announced to the Qantas Frequent Flyer scheme unleashed an outcry from Australian travellers who feel short-changed by the airline’s loyalty program. Under the new rules, which take effect from July 1, Qantas passengers will earn points based on the type and cost of their ticket rather than the distance flown.

For example, the cheapest economy ticket from Australia to London will earn just 6,200 points while the more expensive ‘flexi-saver’ economy fare will net 12,400 points.
Qantas is also slashing the number of status credits earned when flying on partner airlines such as British Airways and Cathay Pacific, making it harder to get that silver, gold or platinum Qantas card.
Of course, just as Qantas is not the only airline in Australian skies, its frequent flyer scheme is just one of many which travellers can choose between.
.....
However, recent changes by Qantas have stacked the deck against Frequent Flyer members who choose to travel with those partner airlines instead of the Flying Kangaroo.

Gold Status In A Single Flight | Star Alliance Food for thought

What I am beginning to think is this...

it it is rumoured there is somewhere in the vicinity of 30,000 platinums (probably more since the double SCs, but they're probably not considered too important).

of those 30,000 many probably fly each week, on expensive fares.

I think qantas is focussing on those, and beginning to discard anyone else.

platinums get all the best benefits... first pick on upgrades, award seats released, special benefits when they fly in lower classes.

those platinums probably aren't too worried about status chasing, and will continue to spend on high fares on a weekly basis. they're probably not too worried about partner earn, or the loss of other benefits (they can either afford it or aren't affected anyway).

first class withdrawn from a route? they don't need heads up because they can either vote with their wallets (very easy to endorse a full fare ticket to another carrier), or they get seated in the First cabin for free anyway.

I'm beginning to think this is what qantas thinks because otherwise why such a disregard for what the rest of us are feeling with regards to the program?

I just read the Greek Airlines Short cut. Have written to Lufthansa asking for a status match. Anybody got experience with LH? They seem to be not keen on matching?

Sorry Qantas but your not making it easy.

Those who are already flying QF and do not have an option are money for nothing so offering extras is not going to make a difference.

The people who are able to chose wth whom they fly and have, until now, chosen OW airlines over (often cheaper) *A options in part because of the WP status with QFF are the revenue that way/will be lost to QF. Once we are not earning enough on our OW partner flights (And usually because the QFi schedule/routing/times are not suitable or are non-existent (& EK is not QF) where is the incentive to fly QFd/shorthaul when we could be chasing status on other airlines?

I wonder when VA will offer another status match? Perfect timing to capture a lot of very unhappy QFF WP.

if I could somehow get Gold benefits on VA (or access to lounge/ability to pick a decent seat), i'd jump ship.

The seat choice benefits are good but the lounges are far too crowded & unappealing at times though.

After the numerous priority board failures on short haul and long haul flights, and lack of care in regards to this matter, I have decided to stop flying Qantas for three months perhaps they can refine the product, I made WP 1 again with them and I am WP with VA. Yes it may only be a small amount to QF but I will spend my next 3 months business travel budget ($12 000) on VA and *A maintaing gold with A3. Yes I have already advised QF and got no response. This is just my stance against the airline.

No doubt a VA match would take more revenue away from QF - but let's face it...... Velocity is a bit of a joke internationally. Partner agreements suck for status benefits. The customer experience is nowhere near as seamless and enjoyable as it is with oneworld.

If you fly QF domestic in premium cabins/full fare Y - you're already better off with VA for points earn/burn.
If you fly QF domestic in discount Y cabins - you're still better off with QFF for earning.

If you fly QF mainly INTL economy - you're better staying with QFF for points earning.
If you fly QF mainly INTL in premium cabins - you've either left QFF or would join another major program like EY, SQ, BA, AA, CX.... that better suit your lifestyle.

Maybe they are listening. Pre-made toasted sandwiches being served in the Qantas Club this morning. Much more refined than dozens of people battling the for access to the food and toasting machine. Laziness perhaps but it makes the toasted sandwich thing much more palatable.

I love it when the little people take a stand but has this worked for anyone in the past? Unless you are a major corporation with a huge travel budget, I would wonder if Qantas would take much notice of 1 person not flying for 3 months (no disrespect meant in that comment, you obviously spend a lot of time in the air with them and warrant a response for the issues you raised)

Passengers only have perhaps 20 or 30 mins, no time to waste spending 10 mins waiting for a sandwich toaster. Surprised QF didn't understand this when introduced.
