"Island Dining" in the Domestic J lounges: Tips, Timing & Menus

But why chilli pickle??

Yep. Exactly. It was a bit of a shock, I only read it after I bit in. Really it wasn't so bad but there was a bit of a spice kick. Overall not that hot, not hot english mustard hot. Maybe a mild jalepeno, and it wasn't constant due to the limited amount and other ingredients.

I don't understand why I am consistently missing this. I asked one of the food serving staff members on a Friday night a couple of weeks ago on a Friday (about 6:30pm) - she knew what Island Dining was, but also told me that they haven't done it for a couple of weeks.

I'm mystified that everyone on the phone seems to tell me it's so available, people in this thread seem to hit it all the time, and yet I can't ever seem to find it. It's just strange.

Maybe a Christmas break? If its on there are menus on the long dining table/bench. Grab a seat and someone will soon ask if you want to try the dish.

Perhaps it is a Christmas break thing - although I've never seen the menus out on the long white high bench, either. I do look for them!

It's just a bit of paper you can see one on the place setting opposite in my previous picture. Service starts just after 6pm and ends at about 7:30.

Ocean Trout Nicoise Salad tonight at BNE. Wine was the Koonunga Hill Autumn Riesling which was enthusiastically topped up by the very attentive QP waiter. The food was pretty average IMHO but it was a very nice touch by QF. I only sat at the long white table because the lounge was packed tonight, I probably wouldn't have realized what was going on if I wasn't sitting there as it all seemed to happen under the radar. The menu said the service was from 6-8pm but they wrapped it up by 7pm.

Made extra special by being sat next to Rachael Taylor from Transfomers..... I thought I might be a chance after the fourth glass of Koonunga Hill

That last bit should be in the "Famous people you have met while at the lounge" hahahaha.

I've known people to take red rooster into the DRW lounge before the redeye flights. I may or may not have participated.. ;)

Late last year i saw a guy take a whopper into the BNE J lounge and eat it.

I've been known to get noodles from Wok On Air downstairs in Sydney and take them into the lounge. Not ashamed to admit it :)

Can you imagine the rank smell through the lounge then :P

I'm more than happy if Chicken Laksa is on the menu (and it's good!). Just do away with the soggy pizza

Laksa was good.. i was surprised..

And the pizza wasn't soggy either..

I have regularly seen people eating personal pizzas, some sort of Chinese from Wok on Air and other type of food in the BNE business lounge. Cannot understand why but I am sure they have a really good reason.

they should get HJ's in and start serving Whoppers with Cheese ...
I wish people would really be careful with their abbreviations. Let's just say that Hungry Jack's was not the first thought on my mind. ;)
