Issues with booking award seats ex DXB

I recall reading somewhere that there is a known issue with booking QF awards ex Dubai but cannot find the thread. Was there ever a work around for this?

We booked ex DXB using QFF points on QR via Doha, all ok on the website.

There is a definite lack of Emirates awards at the moment (see thread referenced by Matt in #4.)
