We left this restaurant sooner rather than later and went upmarket a little bit

at this restaurant, we had some local Turkish wine to wash off the taste of the marinated lamb intestines and to be serenaded by these two.

It was getting past 11.30 pm already and I said that we should be heading back already but Sanem insisted that we have just one more local dish to try.

Apparently, this dish cure all hangovers....

One sniff and one sip and I was outta there!!:shock:
It is called Iskembe. Tripe soup. Now I like tripe as in Pho and as tripe in dishes in Italy but this one is totally (to me) unwashed, unclean and like it's straight out from the cow!
Not just curing hangover, it will cure anything!!! A good experience nonetheless
I should have guessed that something was not quite right when they started to bring out bowls of chopped garlic, chilli powder and other different spices.
Whatever, it just could not mask the smell and taste!!

In The Lonely Planet Guide to food in Turkey, 3 confrontational food were listed. We tried 2 and I am glad Sanem didn't let us try the third one!
