JAL 777-300ER back on Sydney route

Perhaps ominous signs but 27th October onwards F is no longer on sale and zeroed out on EF. Looks like SYD could be losing the 777 earlier than planned.
My booking in Apr 2025 is still confirmed, and JL seems to still be selling F on just that month. Fingers crossed mine doesn't get cancelled.

I'm booked in Dec & Jan so I'm probably doomed. Hopefully they just downgrade to J instead of cancelling the booking (as reported by the user on reddit)

Sort of related to the above discussion...

I'm booked on JL3 from JFK to HND in First next January. According to this page on JAL's website the flight will be on JAL's swanky new A350-1000, with amazing new First Class.

But on my booking (and when you go to JAL's website to book the flight) it's listed as a B777.

Is it just that JAL hasn't updated its (northern) Winter schedule to reflect the new planes yet?

Yes, it takes time for them to reflect it in the GDS.

Hard to say, may be dependant on plane arrival. Seems DFW route has been shifted to permanent 35K from August 15 and JFK route is majority a35k until October where for now it's listed as shared by b777 and a35K.

Maybe the delivery schedule for the 35K is flaky so they're hedging their bets.

This would make sense, it'd also explain where the 777 frame allocated to JL51/52 is potentially being used instead.

There is per JL website.

Yep also per EF in both directions

I've been dwelling a bit on the Reddit report of a February cancellation without downgrade.

Given my F0 A0 flight is the last Friday in March (peak sakura) I'd be facing $$$ for one-way economy tickets this late in the game if QF/JL said "too bad, so sad, here's a refund".

I found SQ J Saver inventory into KIX (none into HND/NRT/NGO) and booked them as an insurance policy. Crossing all my fingers and toes there is no swap, or at the very least JL offers downgraded inventory. I will happily pay SQ the 75 USD fee to return my points.

Dammit. I'd lined up all the points needed for First Award for two flying Haneda - Sydney and was online last night at 12.30 am to book as seats were released by JAL But on the very day (May 2 2025) it's reverted back to 787. 🤬. I did get two J though but was dreamin.
It's changed then from my original booking and the comment I posted on May 7. It was a 787. I missed getting F award seats because of this.

Although i wonder if they have it spare in outposts like sydney. If not I wonder if its possible that the inbound people went nuts and drank it all with nothing left for the outbound return.

Or maybe they hide a bottle or two for the return journey regardless of demand for the inbound.

I would suggest given The experience of Salon

That there’s QUOTAS on bottles served

We’ve got JL52 F mid-March. I’m assuming if they swap out the 777 we’ll get downgraded to J 🤔 Really wanted to tick JAL F off the list though.

Edit: sigh, it looks like the post I was responding to has been deleted.

@Pushka can you post a screenshot of the seat map and confirm the exact flight number/route?

9 April JL52 SYD-HND is still scheduled as a 777 with F seats on sale, and the seat map still matches the 777. There's no one seated in row 2 at the moment...

At $50-60 per bottle I don't think the tea has a strict quota like the Salon. Obviously they wouldn't carry dozens of bottles unnecessarily but I'd be surprised if they ran out.

Yep. I got the data wrong. On return though in beginning of May it has no F. And right now I can’t even get JAL to accept the PNR for either trip.

JAL MMB can be tricky with the given name field and middle names/titles. Try in the formats

Firstnametitle (e.g. Johnmr)
Firstmiddletitle (e.g. Johnrobertmr)
Firstmiddle (e.g. Johnrobert)

I actually do wonder how the F loads are on the 777 for SYD.
Whilst we have high demand between HND and SYD, is it actually cash F demand or Awards and upgrades.

That might also play into the flaky nature of the route.
