jb747's final piloted flight departed LHR on time at 2045 hours on Thursday 24 January 2019 with A388 VH-OQH, ironically around the time that the overnight delayed QF9 from PER was arriving. The latter (B789 VH-ZNB) should land at about 2112 hours, more than half an hour later than QF had expected, so there's no way it will be departing London at 2200 hours.

QF2 was airborne at 2106 hours, so should be in SIN (provided no holding) at least 10 - 15 early.

UPDATE: QF estimates a landing time in SIN at 1724, so terminal at gate is roughly 1729, 16 early at this stage.
Jb747's final flight is from SIN on Sunday!

Correct it's QF36 departing 1940 hours and my upgrade to J has come through and I've been seated in Emerald city. :)

I am so looking forward to this trip.

I was talking to my manager yesterday and he noticed I was rostered off over the holiday weekend. He asked if I was doing anything.

The look on his face when I told him I was flying to Singapore on the Saturday and coming home Sunday night was priceless. When I explained why he thought it was a great idea but not something he would ever do.

And I unfortunately will not be able to join you. By the time I was able to make the call on being able to get away the prices had become unrealistic for me.

Enjoy the flight, as I am sure you will. And thank you for representing AFF! :)

JB, What time do you leave the accommodation for Heathrow? and how long before the flight do you hope to be on board. Maybe as the last flights, will you do the walk around?
We stay in Kensington, so they allow about an hour for the transport to the airport. It normally takes less than that, so we generally end up on the aircraft with about an 70 minutes to run until planned departure time. That’s pretty relaxed.

I just watched an A380 leave SYD in what seemed like a very steep climb from half way up the runway. Interestingly the flight number is QF6601 which I haven’t seen before. Would love to know where this ones off to.

I mentioned up thread I saw jb747s last approach into SIN yesterday.

I was on the bus heading for the hotel and had to scramble to grab the phone and snap a shot through the trees.

Here’s hoping someone with a decent camera is ready when you get to MEL jb!

Well according to Qantas (QF) #6601 ✈ FlightAware it is a SYD- SYD flight and a short one at that!

QF6xx_ are “ferry flights” flights with no passengers
QF7xx_ are cargo flights

Australia Day A380 fly past.
Frequent flyers like us don’t go to the beach to watch the fly past but instead use an app like this:

Where is the “you know when you are a frequent flyer thread”?

It would have had a take off weight in the order of 310 tonnes, so even with the maximum derate (which we sometimes use when 250 tonnes heavier), there would have been a dramatically better power to weight ratio than usual. The pitch attitude is normally 12º, but at that weight you'd need to be looking for another five or so.
