Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

JQ47 SYD-ICN has not departed on time once since it launched 6 weeks ago.

On Wednesday 14 December, JQ47 took off at 1538 hours, arriving ICN at 2330 hours, 195 minutes late. B788 VH-VKI then was airborne on the returning 2155 hours JQ48 at 0147 hours on Thursday 15, so SYD arrival should be 1258 hours, 163 minutes behind schedule.

JQi continues with some terrible unpunctuality.

JQ43, the 1005 hours MEL-DPS (B788 VH-VKD) took off at 1601 hours on Friday 16 December 2022's afternoon. Suggested arrival is 1836 hours, 341 late. The delayed pushback was due to the aircraft arriving from SIN as JQ8 at 1245 hours, 255 minutes late.

This aircraft may have been at Selangor or wherever JQ has maintenance undertaken as on 13 December it operated JQ8992.

Note how it's losing further time. Not good!

VFK appears broken in Sydney (or scheduled engineering, but doubtful)

I think enough warning was given on here a few months ago, and the public was well informed, about the dangers flying JQi this peak season. They applied the band aids but they could come off at any moment! With the current pricing I would probably still book them to save a few grand but really just need to suck it up. Don’t expect to arrive same day and expect the unexpected lol.

I think enough warning was given on here a few months ago, and the public was well informed, about the dangers flying JQi this peak season. They applied the band aids but they could come off at any moment!

B788 VH-VKA is on JQ11 MEL-OOL-NRT with the 0745 hours Friday 16 December initial sector airborne at 1107 for OOL arrival at 1154 hours, 184 minutes late. It then was in the sky at 1412 so projected arrival in Japan is 2138 hours, 188 late. JQ12 back overnight is likely to be at least two hours late.

VKB is on delayed flight JQ18d, the HKT-MEL airborne at 1111 hours this morning. It's two and a half to three hours away from landing, so that may be about 2245. Normally this flight arrives at 1005 hours so it's more than 720 minutes late.

VKC is out of service.

VKD is on the hours late MEL-DPS noted above.

VKE is operating JQ15 from CNS up to KIX, with likely arrival 37 minutes late at 1932 hours.

VKF today arrived SYD at 1319 hours, 124 minutes late as JQ62 overnight from SGN.

VKG is on the MEL-HKT JQ17, suggested arrival being 2057, 47 late.

VKH on JQ3 is the only one so far within cooee of arriving on time but even it's to be an expected 19 minutes late into HNL at 0619 hours.

VKI is within the 15 minute defintion of 'on time' in its suggested 2107 hours arrival (seven minutes tardy) as JQ37 from SYD up to DPS.

JQ63 from MEL to SGN is the task for VKJ with mooted arrival 126 minutes late at 2311 hours local time tonight.

VKK is on JQ44 from DPS down to MEL. It should arrive at about 2210, 55 behind.

VKL is on the infamous newbie JQ47, the 1200 'high noon' SYD-ICN that is never punctual. Today it should arrive at around 2146 hours, 91 late.

I don't patronise this airline but do its international flights ever concurrently operate punctually for the majority of its B788 fleet?

On Saturday 17 December 2022, B788 VH-VKJ as JQ64 from SGN down to MEL should arrive at 1306 hours, 126 minutes late so it's not picked up any time from last night's position.

VKL on JQ48 has in contrast picked up about half an hour but on its ICN-SYD journey will still be an hour late arriving SYD at 1110 hours this morning.

JQ30, the Saturday 17 December mid evening 2125 hours scheduled departure from BKK down overnight to MEL took off at 2352, so Sunday 18 arrival for B788 VH-VKJ should be at about 1221 hours, 116 minutes late. Thankfully the aircraft doesn't appear to again be in use until the 1645 hours up to HNL, JQ1, so in theory that ought be timely.

JQ47 (1200 'high noon' SYD-ICN) on Sunday 18 December 2022 continues with its unbroken run of delays. It was in the sky at 1401 hours for mooted at gate or equivalent arrival of 2155 hours, 100 minutes behind the timetable.

Still on Sunday 18, JQ7, the 1520 hours MEL-SIN (B788 VH-VKK) took off at 1730 so a 2152 hours arrival, 102 late appears to be on the cards.

Monday 19 December 2022 sees a continuation of JQi's late running across much of its B788 fleet.

JQ27 (VH-VKL, the 1505 hours mid afternoon SYD-HKT) did not take off until 1659. Expected arrival becomes 2148 hours, 98 late.

JQ7 (1520 hours MEL-SIN with VKK) is comparatively benign as although it didn't become airborne until 1630, arrival should be 38 late at 2048 mid evening.

On Thursday 22 December 2022, JQ17 (that today starts from SYD and does 'the triangle' to MEL and on to HKT) took off at 1314 hours with B788 VH-VKL. The MEL stop should be from 1434 hours (89 minutes late).

A321 VH-OFL is on JQ31, the early morning 0720 hours MEL-DPS in the sky at 0908 hours for suggested arrival at 1155 hours, a similar 95 late.

There were severe storms at MEL just after 1400 AEDT on Friday 22 December 2022, and now also at 1730.

Water has leaked into many passenger areas - see the QF delays thread for more, and read the 'Herald Sun' online story.

JQ2, the 0830 hours Wednesday 21 December HNL-MEL (B788 VH-VKH) was airborne at 0903 hours. It is timetabled into MEL at 1635 today but after flying close to Melbourne, it is diverting to CBR which at a guess will mean another three hours' plus delay. It should arrive in CBR at about 1802 hours.

Expect planes (and crews!) to be out of position tonight, which won't help Friday 23 punctuality or operations.

The heavy storm remained over MEL at 1745. Ground ops may have been suspended.

JQ17 (VH-VKL), 1520 hours MEL-HKT did however take off at 1740 hours so arrival should be 2158 tonight, 108 minutes late.

A320 VH-VGA is on Thursday 22 December's JQ525, the 1705 hours SYD-MEL airborne at 1821.

FR24 claims it's diverting back to SYD (due to the MEL ongoing storms) but this isn't apparent from its track.

Given the three (at least) storms yesterday that affected MEL operations, no great surprise that on Friday 23 December 2022 JQd has a raft of cancellations that won't be due to low bookings, but aircraft or crews (or both) out of position.

JQ500, first of the morning at 0600 hours from MEL to SYD got the gong.

JA713 at 0800 from MEL to HBA at 0800 is another not to run. Nor will JQ709 on the same route at 1315 operate.

JQ436 for OOL at 1330 this afternoon is another flicked.

There are always no-shows, historically five per cent, but on a day when most aircraft trips would be fully booked, how JQd will accommodate the above patrons and get them to their destination today is a good question.

JQ219 (0615 hours MEL-ZQN airborne at 0706 with A320 VH-VGA) should arrive at 1205 hours, 45 minute stardy.

In further on Thursday 22 December, JQ30 (B788 VH-VKI, the 2125 hours overnight from BKK down to MEL) took off at 2331 hours so a 1202 hours Friday 23 arrival is envisaged, 97 late.

Fog this morning in MEL has contributed to late running.

On Friday 23 December, JQ433, the 0725 hours OOL-MEL (A320 VH-XNW) took off at 0805. After holding above Tocumwal NSW, arrival should be at about 1128, 48 minutes behind schedule.

VH-VGJ on JQ941 from CNS saw this 0630 hours pushback become an 0718 in the sky, so arival in MEL looks like 61 late at 1156 hours.

Continuing with 25 December 2022, JQ17 (A320 VH-VFJ, the 0915 hours DPS down to PER airborne at 1139) should arrive at 1454 hours, 129 late.
