Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

JQ29 is showing a delay of 20hours!

I thought all the 787s are back in service or has another one gone tech?

VKI hasn’t move since yesterday morning
VKA has not moved since the 4th.
Both in Melbourne.

The schedule isn’t really built to have one spare. I would be mindful flying this operation in the upcoming festive season as seats will be as tight as ever across all carriers. Seems like might a risk of JQ Pilots striking later this year so another reason to avoid, that will cause absolute mayhem no doubt.

They have good form in that field, delaying everyone 6 hours, 24 hours, whatever, then cancel it. I mean imagine waiting around all day at the airport then they cancel it at the 11th hour.

JQ25 CNS-NRT B788 VH-VKJ on ground now at CNS airport, engineers on board trying to fix something, dosen't look good for an on-time departure to NRT. Looks like the aircraft previously operated JQ16 KIX-CNS and arrived in CNS on-time.

EDIT: On the way to NRT now, approx 4-5 hours late.

It was a relaxing time, photos to follow. Am now checked in and at the Miracle lounge. The shower was nice.

Got given a 450THB meal voucher at check in. The Burger King meal went down well.

On Sunday 11 December 2022, JQ119 (A320 VH-VFX, the morning 0910 hours SYD-NAN) took off at 1012 hours, arriving at 1509, 59 minutes behind the schedule. The return JQ120 should arrive in SYD at about 2004, 69 late.

JQ47 (lunchtime 1210 hours SYD-ICN) has B788 VH-VKI, having taken off at 1427 for suggested at gate or equivalent arrival of 2218 late tonight Korean time, 123 minutes late. The aircraft had earlier arrived Sydney nine minutes early at 1021 as JQ28 from Thailand's HKT. Not sure why the delay, but the airport will be busy with some departing our shores for Christmas holidays.

On Monday 12 December 2022, significant storms have passed over SYD, so it looks like the airport has been closed to flights since about 1050 AEDT.

JQ506 (A320 VH-XNN, the 0850 hours MEL-SYD airborne at 0913 about 10 minutes late) has been in an extensive holding pattern offshore to Sydney's east so by the time it arrives at its allocated gate or other position, it may be more than an hour later than the scheduled 1020 hours.

The SYD storm will have adverse timekeeping effects all day.

A320 VH-VGF is on JQ788, the midmorning 1045 hours SYD-MCY airborne at 1208 hours. Arrival should be at 1229 hours, 74 minutes late.

As at 2259 hours on Monday 12 December, JQ613 (2120 hours SYD-AVV, A320 VH-VQF) had yet to take off. It wasn't alone.

I assume it has an exemption to do so after 2300 hours.

JQi continues to have immense difficulty operating punctually.

JQ17 (B788 VH-VKG, the 1520 hours MEL-HKT) did not take off on Tuesday 13 December until 1706 hours, so likely arrival becomes 2133 hours, 83 minutes behind the eight ball. This was because JQ8996 (presumably an empty working) arrived MEL (from CNS) at 1519 hours, an astounding 304 minutes tardy.

The MEL-BKK JQ29 should arrive at 2042 hours mid evening, 52 late with VH-VKA.

SYD looks to be down to one runway on Wednesday 14 December early afternoon, perhaps due to significant (but far from record) winds?

This is resulting even during the offpeak at 1330 hours in inbound aircraft holding.

It won't help punctuality this afternoon.

JQ418 (A320 VH-VFP, the 1200 'high noon' SYD-OOL) was fifth in the queue as at 1356 hours for takeoff, so is about two hours late.

In Sydney, the north-south runways appear to be reopening at about 1430 hours on Wednesday 14 December, but not before many delays were caused.

On Thursday 15 December 2022, JQ36 from DPS to MEL has A321 VH-OFL and is arriving at around 0758 hours, 43 late, not helped by a fairly brief hold over Kerang, Vic.

JQ28 from HKT to SYD is worse, with this 2140 hours Wednesday 14 flight not having taken off until 2334 hours. B788 VH-VKH should arrive at 1158 hours, 88 minutes tardy.

JQ31, the 15 December early morning 0720 hours MEL-DPS with A320 VH-VFL did not take off until 0907. Arrival should be at about 1159 hours, 99 minutes behind schedule. This was despite the aircraft having been in MEL since 1813 last night after it arrived from Ballina NSW.
