Jetstar International Sale(s)

Slightly off topic here, but a win for Jnr#1 & Co. with this sale today. She was booking 8 return flights MEL-DPS for June 2014 and had entered all the passenger details and was halfway through the PayPal payment page when she got a call from a co-traveller confirming his name as Ben, not Benjamin. She cancelled the payment, but the booking reference issued. She called Jetstar and was told that she would be charged a fee for the name change, but when it was realized that payment had not gone through, the Agent went away to check and the said that they wouldn't charge for the name change, and if she wanted to pay now over the phone, the $25 pp booking fee would also be waived. Paid on Amex, by the way.

So 8 return direct flights at ~ $468 each. A win with Jetstar (an oxymoron, I know). I just hope the plane departs and returns on time, isn't cancelled or doesn't fly home via timbuktu!

Like the last sale, website has failed.

Sorry!

Thanks for your search.

We're experiencing very high levels of demand on our web site at the moment.

Please come back in 60 seconds and try your search again.

Alternatively, please try again in about 5 minutes.

The website is a little slow. If you go to the jetstar website direct, rather than clicking the link in the email, you get through.

From MEL $88 up and $28 for the return. Can do Sat-Mon for Australia day for $116 return! (giving 36 hours in Bali)

Image how much more business JQ would get IF their web site actually worked :!:

I don't reckon they care to tell you the truth. They will sell out of the preallocated number of sale fares either which way and it works out as cheap advertising driving traffic who will be back even when the sale ends.

I've been trying to make a book now for quite a while, can't even get past the search page.

I was lucky enough to have logged on (accidentally) just as the sale started. So got two bookings in (on hold/bank transfer) before the rush started.

One for 4 nights in June. One for four nights in August. Looks like I'll let the August one slide, as hard as it is at $116 pp!

Their website really is pathetic. Its not only the cheap fares that they arent selling, its EVERY fare. How can a business just let their main sales source crash for hours on end?
I needed to book a short trip to Newcastle ex BNE and couldnt even do that, they are ****, and it appears they also know it, as they wont even sell seats on their own planes

For anyone still trying to get a fare, download the Jetstar app (IOS or Android). It's far more responsive and you'll have much better luck proceeding the whole way through the booking process.

Jetstar is getting thrashed for this on their Facebook page. 12,000++ comments under the relevant post. If you disregard all the 'tagging only' posts, it's pretty much all frustrated disappointment.

I saw the air asia post go up so i kept an eye on jetstar and even though I was on their site within minutes of the sale going live it still took me 25 minutes to complete the booking, clicking no to everything and having already been logged in so most information pre filled. I tried to get a second set of flights for otters to come with us but until now no luck. I got past the select flights screen once only in that time. Android, iPhone, app or not, safari, chrome. They all have issues. Its the site and the server and I see no preference given to the mobile device. No, I don't search on all simultaneously.

I can't see any $88 SYD-DPS fares left - on all the days I am searching they're more like $300-$400. And the month view thing isn't working either...
