Jetstar seriously sucks

I rang multiple numbers, logged online and spoke to lost property...don't try and judge my experience by yours. Thanks and bye. The attitude regards the delay(due to weather in Perth which was rubbish) and the lack of interest from anyone I spoke to at JQ on phone and when I did get to the airport to pick it up was appalling. The price of the flights did not justify the service on the flight, the delay or the cut priced attitude. I have flown AirAsia and not had such bad service and attitudes. I will not fly JQ again and will advise others to avoid.

11 hour delays happens on all airlines.

I have flown a range of LCC (Easyjet, Ryanair, Cubana Air, Air Asia, Scoot and more) throughout the world and Jetstar always comes on top in my experiences. I am flying Air Asia tonight SYD-KUL and I have done this sector half a dozen of times and always had good praises. Similarly, Jetstar has taken me to HNL three times, all positive experiences, to HKT twice and various intra-asia flights ... again all positive experiences.

Japan Airlines once cancelled my midday flight and put me on an earlier flight which the check-in was long closed. That's a full service airline and I was flying J as well.

Sorry your neice missed getting back to university but you could have timed/planned thing better or even spaced things out so that timing is not of the essence.

I am sorry Airwalk74, but ease off the attitude. Drron has a fair point that without a JQ staff member handing in the iPad, QF would not have been able to hand it back to you.

Without knowing the dates, there has been some ordinary weather in PER as of late (I am guessing it was over the course of last weekend).

Believe it or not, I know a fair few of us have had quite large delays on QF (I had a 10hr+ delay on a PER-HKG a couple of years back), without any monetary compensation.
LCC are great when they run like clockwork, but you do find out the risks should something go wrong.

I've left Bose headphones on a J* flight.....within 30mins of leaving the seat I received a call to come back a collect from the J* counter. Last week had a 5hr delay with QF655 - these things happen.

Weather was not bad...Tuesday pm.

Unfortunately the Jetstar Customer Charter doesn't look like much use - all it says for delays is that they will notify you (if they have your contact details) and accommodate you on other services (which they say will usually be the next JQ flight).

I think, depending on the reason for the delay/cancellation - you should write to them with your claim for compensation to cover hotel and/or food.

Just curious as to whether everyone make a judgement call on a single or multiple experiences when it comes to customer service?

.

Good solid Commentary. I too have travelled on multiple LCC around the world, including some others not mentioned such as Air Transat of Canada , WizzAir of Hungry & Jet2 of the United Kingdom.... & in all fairness Jetstar Trumps the lot.
AirAsia are certainly a notable worthy operator as well I would add.

I struggle to fathom how people rip into Low Cost Carriers here in Australia , when things go wrong, when the level of service experienced elsewhere in the world for many LCC when things go wrong is horrendous.

Many people will disagree with me perhaps, but I fell that LCC are often frowned upon in Australia, whereas in Europe it is more or less embraced.

I know of one top UK Retailer that has a " Best fare of the day policy " when it comes to European travel & that airline for travel is the infamous Ryanair.
What's staggering is that travel for executives on LCC is widely accepted & embraced by this top FTSE 100 corporation.

It's the snob factor.....even the bogans live by it.

I think the main difference between Australia and Europe is most flights in Europe are under two hours total and within Australia/to Asia flights are generally a lot longer. Therefore, the 'frills' which are removed by the low cost service are not missed as much. Not many carriers provide a full meal in Y for a 75 minute flight and a 29 inch seat pitch can be tolerated for a short amount of time.

I avoid LCC wherever possible as the savings after all costs and time are considered are generally minimal if flights are booked well in advance. BA from LHR (on special) is generally cost competitive to Europe and I get lounge access and QF SC as well.

I think 11 hours is a very long delay, especially if overnight. There was a post a week or so ago where someone was complaining about a 4hr 50min delay on QR and they appeared to get a better reception. The QFi withdrawal from PER has forced loyal QFF onto 3K. Maybe some of you 'over East' will get a taste of the same if the rumours are true.
