Flying to Sydney from MEL on JQ on QF reward ticket coz it is less points and I’m saving them for an upgrade to LAX next month. Anyway, as per usual, flight is late, yet the idiots at T4 make the announcement “go to gate boarding is about to commence”..... I hike all the way there and what do you think??? No plane. No, it’s still in the sky en route from wherever.....

Don’t know whose fault that it is but I have experienced this a lot with JQ.

:-(

Some on here have had some rotten luck with JQ.

Living in paradise and wanting to avoid the nearly 4 hour round drive to a proper airport for the weekly commute to Sydney, I’ve racked up >350 flights on JQ. I could count on one hand all the issues suffered over this time, and most of those were weather related.

I’ve always summed up JQ that when it all works it goes well.

But when it goes wrong, it typically goes <really> wrong.

She then took the blanket and scolded the elderly gentleman which I thought was just downright rude and it took everything in my power not to give her a barrage as I could see the gentleman was visibly upset.
This is really poor and I'd be furious.

That said, I've been treated worse than this by full-service airlines (TK comes to mind). There's some bloody awful individuals working for some airlines. I'm not convinced that JQ have the worst - for me it is the shocking run rate, I have been delayed on every JQ flight I've had and a handful of colleagues were stuck in BKK for 2 days due to JQ recently, so I'd more than likely have copped the above even if it is disgraceful. What I can't gamble with however is two days of my life stranded as a result of IRROPS.

I can't tell if you are joking or not...

If you are NOT joking.... I would run and buy a lotto ticket today!

No joke.

I use to fly weekly MCY-SYD-MCY on a JQ fare that paid 20SC per flight. Ended up earning >7,500SC doing this run. I stopped the weekly commute about 7/8 years ago and haven't stepped foot on another JQ flight.

Most regular users of JQ I know have commented that the service has dropped off and the cancellations/delays have increased in the last couple of years

Hmmmmm.... maybe.... I do admit that flying JQ out of smaller ports isn't *as* bad as a real airport because there really isn't anything to complain about. You can't complain about nothing, right?!? Plus, in SYD JQ use a real terminal so you aren't punished for flying a LCC...... however, if you tried to replicate that experiment, flying JQ weekly between SYD-MEL, I think you'd get a different result... esp on MEL end..... in the coughe T4....

You know I have to say that I rarely have a problem with JQ cabin crew.... they are usually great. I think they are just so exhausted from bogan travel that if you turn up as a "normal" person that it is polite and clean, they are really happy and give great service! The ground crew are a bit lacking.... my fav is the scale on wheels, coming up the line, weighing your cabin baggage, and making people PAY for each extra kg, meanwhile the actual aircraft is nowhere to be seen..... no announcements. No apologies.... nothing. I feel like their priorities are all wrong............

Back in those days T2 had a Qpub. On arrival I'd pop in for something to eat/drink. The Friday arvo lounge visit was always a pleasant experience as you'd always bump into someone doing a commute. It was the quintessential Qpub !!

Oh yeah I remember!! That's when Qlink was flying out of there too yeah?

I never experienced this.

I quit after 1/1 success where there was no alternative option remotely close in timetable ex-Launceston on a weekend (but have had plenty of others “reporting back” re: issues). My 1/1 went smoothly, i’d pre-paid the golf bag fee, and got a comp exit row seat at the bag checkin and it was “on time” (by the <15m definition). Bags a little slow in MEL T4 but other than that nil complaints. But had used QantasLink on way down (at same price).

I’d use them again, but not for anything time dependant or where another option would leave me better placed in event of any “operational issues”.

It's not unusual for the displays at MEL to show flight closing/closed when the aircraft is still in the air, it's simply annoying.

We travelled regularly to Bali with JQ and noticed that the delays and cancellations were becoming more frequent but at the time it suited our budget. The last time we flew with them however was the last straw. It was an overnight flight and we departed late from DPS as per the norm and after about an hour my wife decided she would get some sleep. The A/C must have been on overtime as the aircraft was freezing so my wife put on a jumper and tried to sleep but was still shivering so I asked the FA for a blanket. Now I don’t know if I got her at a bad time or if she was just a grumpy cow but she shot back “ Blankets are for children and the elderly only”. I didn’t raise my voice but asked why and even offered to buy one if need be to which she snapped back “ If I give one to you I’ll have to give one to everyone and we haven’t got enough” I was kind of taken aback but didn’t make a fuss after that. A few minutes later an elderly gentleman sitting across from us said that my wife could have his blanket which I initially refused until he insisted we take it. The gesture was much appreciated and I thought that was it but no, about 20 minutes later the dragon comes past and see my wife with the blanket and says “where did you get that from, how dare you take one after I told you no!” My wife explained that the gentleman gave it to her to which the FA snatched the blanket and said “ I said no and I mean no” She then took the blanket and scolded the elderly gentleman which I thought was just downright rude and it took everything in my power not to give her a barrage as I could see the gentleman was visibly upset. When we got home I sent a email to JQ explaining the situation and they offered up a voucher and said they would investigate further. I never heard back from them and it probably wouldn’t have mattered as I had made up my mind to not fly with them again. We shifted our domestic flying to VA and GA got our business to Bali.

Wow, worse than poor service. I wouldn’t fly them again either after that.

It’s pretty wrong they won’t refund weather canceled flights. Fair enough don’t pay for hotels etc, but if you can’t accommodate me on the same day, let’s just go our separate ways. I don’t know how this passes the ACCC.
