Jetstar to launch CBR flights

Likely be a regular on Friday frenzy these sort of routes so perhaps keep a look out.

Tiger was normally about $60-$80 on this route.

I’m not sure if the price premium Canberra warrants is due to airport charges or, in that it’s just always been marketed as a premium priced port.

Even Tiger never normally went below $60/$70. I used the Sunday night flight back a bit, normally $120 odd bucks as the leadin.

I've always found it weird JQ don't operate at Canberra. QF and JQ operate together on stacks of routes, so I don't know why this would be cannibalising more than any other.

Obviously this route is more business centric than most, but considering the rise in domestic tourism, this makes sense as many Queenslanders will be flying to the snow. Not to mention Canberrans escaping to Queensland for the winter (and in to the summer).

I doubt we'll see CBR on the MEL/SYD routes any time soon.

No idea. Given it's a new market for them (not just a new route), there may be something at the CBR end.
Alright well, I’m in. Give me an opportunity to try out the e190 DRW-CBR and spend a couple of days doing Canberra tourist stuff I never got around to in the 3 weeks I lived there 🤣

Curious if anyone has seen other press coverage about this JQ launch being in response to Rex/VA, all of the other press coverage makes no reference to Rex so it looks like Andrew from Simple Flying might be unofficially quoting AFF here:
Others say it is more about keeping rivals Virgin Australia and Rex at bay.

Wouldn't be the first time that some AFF content has ended up on other news sites but regardless it's still funny.

I thought it was only the blog that must not be named stealing content ;) Maybe another has joined ;)

$89 fare back on as part of the Mid Year sale until new FY eve...

Virgin $119. So perhaps if you want baggage a better option. Good to see VA reducing prices against Jetstar for once.

On sale again for $69 as part of Weekend Fare Frenzy which is even lower than the initial launch fare...

I have to cancel mine due to work having something better for me to do. At this point I’m waiting until they cancel it anyway though
