Jobkeeper/Jobseeker and Other Government COVID-19 Responses

Lodged April Instalment Activity statement, as no more payments to be made for April. PAYGW lodged, and cash flow boost credit posted as part of lodgement. In the Integrated Account Activity it actually appears BEFORE the PAYGW entry!

Extension of time to enrol for the JobKeeper scheme
The Commissioner has extended the time to enrol for the initial JobKeeper periods, from 30 April 2020 until 31 May 2020.

If you enrol by 31 May you will still be able to claim for the fortnights in April and May, provided you meet all the eligibility requirements for each of those fortnights. This includes having paid your employees by the appropriate date for each fortnight.

For the first two fortnights (30 March – 12 April, 13 April – 26 April), we will accept the minimum $1,500 payment for each fortnight has been paid by you even if it has been paid late, provided it is paid by 8 May 2020. If you do not pay your staff by this date, you will not be able to claim JobKeeper for the first two fortnights. ...

Just going through the jobkeeper paperwork;

Says you should do this by 30 April; they only released it on the 28 April and the latest form shows 3 May 2020.

JOBKEEPER-START-FN01 don't forget that description line on the STP.

Brother In Law confirms as well - wholesaler of Juice to Restaurants/Cafes.

(He had registered on April 20th but did not know he had to do more from Monday. I suggest he review his accountant who was advising him.)

I heard an accounting firm, one of the biggies, stating last night that JobKeeper was much too complicated and said you needed to know about immigration law, accounting law, HR blah blah. What a lot of bollocks.

They were helpful to me 😅. But don't need anymore as obviously we are in the system now.

What the Federal Government is doing to help small businesses is quite staggering but even so I don't think it will be enough for some. I went to lodge our IAS yesterday for April (taxes deducted from salary) and was about to go into Internet Banking to Bpay the amount, only for the Covid19 first boost to appear and "wipe the debt" automatically.

Amex and Visa must be hating that people aren't using their credit cards to pay their tax bills.

Surely, you jest ?

They’re just catching Upto the losses they imposed on you the payer (assuming no FF points paid out ON those spends)

our first JK payment came through today as well. All as expected. YEAH! It wasn't an entirely uncomplicated process but certainly doable by business owner with a half a brain. While we do use an external accountant for EOFY accounts I felt that this was something I could handle myself, and I did. Dont need to be paying more accountants fees than absolutely necessary.

I was hoping to see mine today, but nothing yet. It is meant to be paid this week and so hopefully it will show up tomorrow.

Junior miss Steady no. X - a sole trader in family daycare received her JK today.

Make sure you have done the monthly declaration, I'm pretty sure that has to be done to trigger the payment to flow.

My brother reported his, only showed up late night

On another sibling, Bridging finance approved for just one month for a business where pipeline of work has completely dried up.

Not sure where they are expected to fund the next month of wages before the next JK PAYDAY

Every time I see those people who have spent years of their life and likely money to build up a business, just to see it vanish in a day is heart breaking. Watching those people line up for Centrelink for the first time ever, is heartbreaking. Many businesses may never recover, we don't actually expect to recover from where we were a year ago. But being older we can manage it better. We are just so grateful this didn't happen when the kids were younger. I hope your family somehow can work through this.

Mental Health will now be the next huge issue to deal with. Many at risk and sad people.
