Hi,
Just wondering how long before the JQ35 flight I can check in. Have a first lounge pass that is going to expire in december so was thinking of using it in the coming weeks.
I will thinking of flying in on the 7am out of melbourne (virgin) with just hand luggage and then going over to the international terminal at 8.30 and checking in if possible.
Want to see what the fuss is of the 1st lounge ;) nice way to spend a saturday.
Any advice/previous experience would be great.

Thanks,

Try and book JQ36 coming up and then just go to the transfer desk at the international terminal and up into the F lounge, do online checkin, explain to the desk you have not got your BO yet, they will suggest you go down later when JQ staff the transit desk to collect it, in the meantime let you in to enjoy the lounge. Worst case scenario is to check in physically at Sydney, which opens at T-3 hours plus whenever the staff feel like working ( that is to say it may not be exactly three hours before).

Thanks markis10,
I had a look and can not see JQ36 on the day I was going to travel from mel. From earlier entries in the thread I think the last flight of JQ36 for a while (summer schedule) is october 6th.
Is it a big issue if I dont have the international transfer?

Can I check in online and having just hand luggage go to any JQ desk and ask (very nicely) for a boarding pass. Or is it simply a thing that they wont do this for me until 3 hours before. If thats the case il take a later flight out of melbourne. I was hoping to utilise the amount of time I have in the lounge.

Iv not done a domestic flight from international before so I am unsure.

Thanks again for the help with this.

You cannot technically check in online but you can, it's just getting the boarding pass that is the issue, I would suggest timing the flight to meet the three hour window allowing an hour for transfer etc.

would it make any difference if both flights were Jetstar? Would it be seen as connecting to a international flight and thus could the check in desk in melb print me a boarding pass for the 2nd flight? I have already booked the sydney - melbourne leg as it was a really good price. Not sure if I can book another JQ flight and get the itenerary joined or somehting like that, again not too used to this kind of things, normally have straight forward international or domestic flights. This is my 1st same day flight like this where im just staying in the airport and not heading into the city for a work meeting.

Thanks

It could work for you being on JQ both ways, and it may not. There have been mixed results. I have been lucky enough to get both BPs in MEL but others have had no such luck. It really depends on the mood of the check in staff.

Thanks JessicaTam,
Im just trying to figure out wether to just take virgin and bank the status or just chance jq and hope for the best, jq flight that morning are coming up more expensive than dj and I'd have no lounge access before the flight. Might just rock up 3 hours before the flight and use the lounge that way. Still be a nice place to spend 2 hours. Not everyone would think it's a wise spend of time or money but allot on this forum would. ;)
Thanks again

Don't forget with JQ, you can always do a price beat against DJ
