would it be possible to just no show for JQ35 and jump a DJ flight back to the goldy after lunch? :P

err ignore that - actually cheaper to fly MEL-BNE on DJ

Your main issue would be getting back to land-side.. although guess you could always just head over to transfer, with your onward BP and act as if you've just landed.. still might raise a few suspicions though!

It is theoretically possible, but would be frowned upon. I would suggest that this is not discussed/encouraged.

JQ35 is an international flight, so you would need to pass back through immigration, even as a "D" passenger. It would probably be a harder thing to explain than "missing" / no-showing for a real international flight.

laugh .... points taken - of course i would have had the courtesy to advise the gate i was not going to show

You would be on the "wrong" concourse for this, and probably be directed back to immigration, which would lead to the same questions about what you are doing, and why.

Folks - I'm a bit confused and looking for some help!

My dad is visiting from the UK in July and I was thinking about taking him up to Sydney for a night (from Melbourne). He always flys budget airlines and has never been in an airline lounge, so thought he would quite enjoy it.

Soooooo, I looked on Qantas and noticed JQ35 and 36 - that prompted me to wonder whether I'd get into the first lounge, rather than the business lounge - ideal.

So, I thought I'd come on here and ask you kind folks if that would be the case - I thought I'd search first (as I figure someone else must have asked the question) and I came across this thread saying the flight is ending in April - but it is coming up for me in July?

Whats the story? Also - if it does allow access into the first lounge - I'll take my wife up for the day meantime as she has also never seen the first lounge!

I wish I had known about this wee flight option before now!!

Thanks!!

Assuming you are a Qantas Platinum (Or Platinum One or Chairmans Lounge member), then yes - booking either JQ35 or JQ36 will get you and one guest on the same flight entry into the Sydney International F lounge and Melbourne International F lounges respectively.

The flights are not ending, just the timing is getting inconvenient.

Thanks Mal - why did I not realise this??!! Soooo many wasted flights to and from Sydney!

Booking now...!

While on the subject - are there any other similar flights with first lounge access? I thought I was going to have to go to NZ!

Unfortunately we are dropping from interested to apologies as we are now off to Nadi on Sunday morning.

We may see people at the HI on Saturday evening though.

I think my call to Jetstar to price match was longer than the flight itself... meanwhile.. move me from Interested to Booked on JQ35 only :)

Can +1 if required. Flying in on DJ then out of MEL on a JASA home.. a day of flying and eating.. FUN TIMES :)

Scan it in and lets take a look, mine are correct in stating International terminals in both origin and destination.

Are you see it says JQ35?

I was thinking about joining you guys for a visit to the SYD First Lounge only but the SYD-AKL-SYD flights were just a little more expensive than I was prepared to spend.

Maybe next time....

Hmmm that's interesting. The JQ website certainly still says that JQ 35 departs from T1.
