Thanks

Thanks to markis10 for all his work on the two events this year. I know that organising an event which doesn't quite go to plan can often be more work than an event that does go to plan; As such your efforts are definitely appreciated.

Due to the cancellation of the DC-3 flight on Saturday I was able to reschedule my weekend and attend the football (AFL) with my family. I didn't see serfty, but I am sure he was smiling with the result :p

Sunday was the main event for me with the visit to Airways museum. This small museum is run by a dedicated group of volunteers and has a fantastic collection. A huge thank you to our two volunteer tour guides (Maurice and John) as well as our very own markis10 and straitman who all shared their insight into the history of Australian aviation. As a mere enthusiast I really enjoyed the visit, which made the weekend worthwhile.

Thank you also to tuapekastar who provided a taxi service for your's truly.

I'm now safely in the MEL QF J Lounge. Had a great time at the MEB airways museum. Fascinating collection and enthusiastic volunteers. It was great to catch up and also meet some more AFF'ers.
A big thankyou to Markis10 for the organisation, and thanks also to Straitman for the lift to and from MEB, and Lindsay Wilson for the company :D
QF also came up trumps and offered me to change my JASA to a seat on any flight to SYD I wanted :)
See you all at another meet soon

PF

Great to meet you. Please pass my thanks onto Shrek for the wine :)

I believe the Aviation Museum will get some new members and donations this week. Was great to have input from markis10 and Straitman as well with their anecdotes and filled in the gaps.

+1

I really enjoyed this part of the weekend. This is a great community museum, and I would love to go back sometime.

All of the above. The agonies of organising are great when they all come off. It is harder when they don't. Had a great time and saw some great sights at the Aviation Museum.

Thanks to markis10 for trying though. It is appreciated.

Okay, the first of many photos. Some are named, but my recollection of what they are/do are better directed to Straitman and markis10.

Looking at some of the photo's you can see how far technology.

Most peoples phones have more storage that was on display.

IIRC, this was a topic for discussion at the Flounge for some. The discussion and video should have answered most questions

Just a quick note (thanks for the reminder harvyk) to say the refund for the DC3 flight has been received in the form of a cheque just banked, once cleared Tuesday I will be direct depositing all refunds in full to the nominated bank accounts or passing on the donation to the museum as some have asked (very kind gesture).

Thanks for your patience, I hope everyone enjoyed the activities that we could make happen.

Hi Markis10,

Have you been getting my PMs about the refund?

Cheers,

Greg.

Yes, and responded, thanks for the heads up.

While I am posting in forum just wanted to let people now the DC3 team have offered me a fly in fly out to the airshow at Avalon next year, given the recent issues they wanted to try us first, I am finalising details and will post later this week what is proposed.

Think that may interest me as well
