Hi Everyone,

I just completed Paris to Mumbai on QR in Y Class.

Very nice service indeed....I was given an exit row from CDG - DOH and the staff on board were exceptional.

I checked in online and was able to skip the lines at CDG by using the bag drop. I was 5 kilos over on my luggage and but was not charged. It was mentioned but I said that after the flight im going to be a QR Burgundy and therefore be entitled to 10 kgs extra...then I was offered an exit row.

Both flights were on an 340-600.

Cheers,

Super

Sounds like you had a great flight.

This is a kind of *off topic* but l just had a mate do a ton of travel on QF/QR/TG/ET, in J class, and says that there is no comparison between QF J and QR J.
His opinion is that QR J is miles in front of QF (chalk and cheese).

I didn't take any photos, im still a newbie to this site and finding my way around. Ill check out the trip report section.

Im flying BOM - SIN - SYD - MEL on Jet and QF on Thursday night so it will be good to see a comparison between the two.

Im a Qantas fan but think QR are miles ahead with their on board service, on the ground they struggle a bit and Doha will be a lot better once the new airport opens.

A friend and I did MEL-DOH-BRU last year return on QR on the 777 (and A330 from DOH-BRU).

The Y seats and service on the 777 simply blow QF out of the water. I don't recall an entire time on the flight where there was not at least one FA wandering around within a 15 minute period offering water or any other beverage. Simply exceptional service.

The crew was not 'smiley' or anything, but very polite and efficient.

Also, just little useless touches like a place mat for meal services (Even snacks:o). The seat pitch was also excellent, and quite comfortable for a whY product.

Alas the lack of alliance and what not means I won't be flying them on a regular basis. They happily credit to UA but do not recognise elite status (but elite on their own program is very easy to earn). DOH is a hole, but apparently the new airport is due to open this year, making things much nicer.

QR now is basically what EK did 20 years ago. Hope it does not go the way EK goes once it gets a reasonable market share. I did a few QR flights and have to agree with every positive comment.

Yeah, flew QR KUL-DOH-ATH and then LHR-DOH-KUL in 2010 in Y and was very impressed, some very nice food and the service was good... i agree when the new airport is build it will be better and hopefully won't have to be bussed to and from aircraft when it can be 38C even at 11.30pm....

Haven't flown J and unless they somehow join *A i doubt i will, but once they start flying to Perth they will be right up the front of the pack in terms of who i would choose in Y...

They would be a far better fit for One World. If OW could ditch RJ, (or have both QR and RJ), then in an instant they would finally plug the gaping holes in their Route Map - namely Africa, India and South America. QF could also then codeshare on QR to DXB/AUH/BOM via DOH and finally throw a punch (or 2).

Try DOH to BAH or DXB!

BAH is only 130kms away so that would be about a 20 minutes flight max, DBX is not much further.........how bad could a 20 minute flight possibly be, before you had a chance to think about you would be back on the ground.

Earlier this year I flew TLV - AMM on RJ it was about 20 minutes all up and the staff managed to give everyone a drink before we took off but there is no way that I could pass judgement on an airline on a 20 minute flight.

Anyway a dare is a dare so next time im in the region im going to give it a shot....its too bad cos im flying MEL - DBX in about a week but am already booked on CX.

BAH to DOH is not allowed to fly across Qatar, so they do a large 3 sided square. It is about an hour.

Try the QR A320 in economy on a 1 hr plus flight, and you will get a different appreciation of QR, i guarantee!

I flew an QR A320 from DOH-ATH, was about 3 hours or so i think... It wasn't quite the same as on the A330 or A340 but then it wasn't likely to be... But i don't recall it being any worse than plenty of other 737 or A320 flights on other airlines???

Fair enough. My 6 experiences over 4 years were terrible. Very different to the airline's claimed "6 star service".
