Just when you thought you had seen it all in the Qantas lounge...

harsh and I think untrue - I had the best time working on that contract in NZ (to be fair there were a lot of internationals there as well which is why the vegemite thing probably went flat)

YMMV

Sorry, that was supposed to be a flippant comment. If Kiwis did not understand 'happy little vegemite' despite vegemite being available in NZ, then the logical conclusion was that they did not understand happiness. I didn't imagine anyone would take the statement seriously.

Nothing better than a vegemite and cheese sandwich. Can only imagine it'd go just as good on pizza.
I've never looked into marmite ingredients, but having too much sugar would match my experience of tasing it. Sugar is a catch all favour masking agent. Umai, favour is not just salt... but what ever

They make a 20g mini jar which would be fine for carry-on and ought to last at least a month.

hmm about 10 days at best for me.

There is no sugar on the list of ingredients for Marmite and it is not remotely sweet.

no added sugar.

It's 1.2g/100g according to their website (Home)

Vegemite is listed as "<1g"/100g

So we don't know by how much, but there is more sugar in marmite (sugar only appears on the ingredients if it's an added ingredients. It will appear in the nutrition table which isn't included in your photo)

Vegemite is listed as 2.4g sugar per 100g on the Vegemite website - so twice the sugar of Marmite.

My bad, I was looking at serving size.

But if you compare sugar / serving size, as the serving size of Marmite is 8g, it works out to be 0.096g, vs Vegemite 5g 0.12g.

Probably not a measurable difference. As you say, neither taste sweet.

You pronounced it incorrectly. 😉

Yep. As does block deodorant etc.
I have never had solid stick deodorant questioned anywhere.
I pretty much exclusively do HLO and all my lags are with me.
The solid Dove etc is never inside that bag.

so.. to sum up.. we next need to spot someone in a lounge wearing pajamas (mango theme optional), some things (flip flops), with jars of Vegemite and Marmite comparing the sugar content (but somehow ignoring the NaCL) loudly on a facetime call with someone...

did I miss anything?

point of order - I haven't seen the party pies in SYD since the pandemic?!! It's always been cake at the usual feeding frenzy time (used to be 3-5pm ish). Maybe ADL still has them?

Weet-bix.

The smallest is 145g (that I can currently find). And its called Vegemite travel pack tube
That's what I had. Didn't remenber it being that big.
Why wouldn't you just pack it in your hold luggage?
I was worried it would get squashed and then I wouldn't have any for the trip. As it turned out, it was quite popular with other pax on the ship, especially when the seas were rough.

I've never seen such a small jar. Last trip I couldn't find the tube and ended up with a squeezy bottle. It was too runny and didn't taste the same.

May 2-4, eh? What are you doing then? Hopefully crack open a few Labatt's or Molson Canadians in Muskoka and celebrate the fire works with some mates by the cottage, eh? Victoria Day certainly hits a bit different now that we don't have a Queen, eh?!

Those semi hard plastic squeezy bottles are terrible. Like you said, it is a different formula (nutrition panel confirms this) and you can't get every drop out. I don’t know why they did away with the soft toothpaste shaped tube.
We are travelling with a 235g glass jar for an upcoming trip. Or do I nick a bunch of small jars or sachets from the lounge and risk being talked about here?

They sell single serves in a pack at supermarket
I agree re the bottle of vegemite (made that mistake once only - gets used for stir fries and salty marinade now)
