Kerbside Baggage check USA

In USA and was flying out of Las Vegas after major convention on AA to DFW.
Got out of cab and heard someone say AA check in over here on the footpath with a small line.
So lined up with the others thinking this is strange...
At the front of the line penny dropped it was valet check in, turned out for the best but as my companion was just over the limit and due to my Silver QF status the overweight was let through and we got prioirty boarding and security lines. My friend tipped him $10, the overweight charge was $100 otherwise, when we went inside the normal check in lines were very long, would have taken an hour at least I reckon.
But we got through in minutes.
Did I just fluke this?
Is this service available to anyone, or Silver and above?
Did we pay too much, or not enough?
It certainly beats standing in the long line inside the terminal.
Being only Silver I have not used this before.

I also got priority boarding at most terminals with no hassles too.

I'm a recent convert to AA's kerbside check-in. I'd always avoided it before, but earlier this year at LGA, when I was carrying a lot of luggage, the AA red cap came over to me as the driver was getting the bags out of the car, said "I'll take that for you sir, could I please see your ticket?"

And while I stood there, he weighed the bags, tagged them, sent them off, then came back to me with my boarding pass. No effort from me whatsover.

I gave him $10; I was concerned it wasn't enough. How much do others tip for kerbside check-in?

I've used this service a couple of times. It's so liberating to enter an airport terminal laden down with cases filled with all my shopping.

I've tipped as little as $5 as that's the smallest bill I had after a $50.

As for lines, I have seen it get busy at times but I seem to always come across someone who has just finished with a customer and would rather me (the person in front of him) inseatd of walking an extra 10 metres- LOL.

we used it in Phoenix - we tipped $2 per bag which came out to $22 so for the group of us (7) it was well worth it.

Curbside is a great idea, even had the United guy in Boise refuse a tip, just it was great that an Ozzzzie had corm to Boise.

We did this back in 1995 and had no status with anyone at the time.

Anyone can use kerbside checkin. I much prefer it to waiting in long lines inside. I usually give $5 per bag.
