The main item for the final day at Mitchell Plateau was to take the helo out to a major rock art site near the Lower Mitchell Falls. This site is inaccessible by road, even in the dry, making the visit an offering unique to the wet season tour when the helo is permanently based at the camp.

As with the flights to Mitchell Falls the previous day, the ten pax in our group were broken into three rotating groups to join the two guides who flew out to the site with the first group and back with the last group.

@JohnM , Is this art work considered original ?
It seems pretty bright.
In Arnhem land our guide opined that most of the work had been overpainted or freshened up.

That's always an intriguing question, but an issue that I must confess I studiously avoid getting into opinions or debates about. I agree that some age claims seem implausible without there being touching-up, and there can often be an overtone of attaching meanings to justify certain precepts.

Let's just say your guess is as good as mine :).

Beautiful photos JohnM .
Looks like a good trip.
Pity the country is a bit dry... but like you said, the luck of the draw.

At least there had been enough rain to ensure the grass was green and growing vigorously.
