Krisflyer SQ Waitlist

lonewolf are these separate bookings? IMHO rdpt bookings are always best if booked as 2 seperate bookings - miles reqd and taxes are exactly same if booked as ret booking but it allows so much more flexibility

I would be calling KF and ask them to amend your booking to 2 x separate bookings - this should not be a problem - it will mean you can confirm your Reserved return leg and create whatever WLs you want for outbound - hope that helps

Ok, I guess thats the mistake i made. I thought i had read somewhere if i made the bookings together then perhaps slight chance of increasing odds of getting the waitlist approved. I have 2 waitlists, one is a separate booking but the other (the one i prefer) is the same booking as the reserved return flight that i actually want to keep.

I will have to give them a call and get them to do this, any idea if there are still really long wait times?

Hi guys,

My waitlisted flight became available, I had a backup points redemption booked. The waitlisted flight is easier / more convenient for me. What are my options? Do i just call them up and get my flight changed from the booked flight to the waitlisted flight? Are there any charges?

The other question is, I think the booking may have used some points from my May expiry (end of may they get extended) bundle. What happens if i cancel the flight? Since its almost the end of may now, I heard some people get worried if you cancel a flight after the points used were meant to expire you dont get them back? As the extension doesnt come into effect for those points...

So you want to cancel the booked flight and go ahead with the waitlisted flight?

I know i paid i think $75USD to change a points flight (change not cancel), assume there would similar for a cancellation but you should be able to easily check.

sorry i can't help with the points expiry question.

yup, i basically want to cancel one flight and pick the other easier flight. I called them up, i was told i will get a callback, nothing yet :(

I wanted to see if i could change from booked to the new waitlisted one and if thats a different fee from just outright cancelling, also worried whathappens to my points if i cancel

wolfy you will need to call up and explain your situation - you may or may not get away with paying fees - if you get a half decent Agent and explain your situation you might get lucky - do not wait get on the blowers pronto

Great question - I hope to be asking exactly the same thing very soon! 🙏
I think the old system no longer applies, where waitlisted flights were tied to a confirmed booking, so if it comes up it just gets flipped over. which is a shame, would save us and SQ a lot of hassle.

ATM SQ has no fees on Redemption flights changes as a covid genorisity, I think that also covers cancellations (its somewhere on the website if you need clarity and expires in a few months or less)

From reading other discussions here - if you cancel the flight paid by points that were extended they dont get automatically reinstated, and seems we gotta annoy customer service to put them back, which they will do, but its difficult getting this through to some of them. Once reinstated they will still have the same extended expiry as before.

If my waitlist pops up, i will be calling and ask if they can amend my current booking and cancel the waitlisted one for simpler points management. However scary that might be if they push the wrong button !

If not, then i will just amend the original booking to some random future date, and then later its only 25 yankee bucks to change again.

My waitlisted flight for September just came through. Rang up to change. As usual recently a considerable wait. agent couldn't do it and couldn't transfer call as they were too busy but they would call back.no call in 48 hours so can't be bothered wasting more time so today I just cancelled the old 0045 flight to BNE and paid the redeposit fee.

OH Snap!!. I called them up a third time and as i was talking to a rep about my issue, I got a callback from singapore so i told them Singapore Airlines is calling me and i answered the call (by swapping, not hanging up) so the other call got put on hold by my phone. Anyway the callback fixed my issue after getting his manager etc. Took 19 minutes, and then after we finished and i hung up, it automatically went back to my first call and the lady was still on there waiting for me to finish up. I thought she would have hung up and moved onto the next call.

I have a confirmed miles ticket FRA-MEL in premium economy and waitlisted FRA-MEL in business and first. I have received an e-mail that the business waitlist is available for confirmation from SIN-MEL.

I want to modify my confirmed PE ticket to use the SIN-MEL flight in business (understanding the extra point cost) as this will reduce my transit time by a few hours and provide a business seat.

The call centre said this isn't allowed, I just wanted to check if anyone knows if this is correct? It just seemed strange that they e-mail you saying a segment is available for confirmation but you can't actually make use of it.

I have done exactly that just a few weeks ago. I had a MEL-xSIN-IST reward return ticket in W. I had the same trip but in J waitlisted (albeit as 2 separate one-way itineraries). One of the waitlisted itineraries (IST-xSIN-MEL one way) came through. I called and changed the ticket so now I have MEL-IST in W and IST-MEL in J.

HUACA.

Unfortunately, some of the Call Centre people say a lot of things which are rubbish. Perhaps just to get callers off of the line. 🤔

Thanks all I'll try calling again next week when I have some spare time, the annoying this is I had to wait 4 days for a callback before they told me it's not possible - Hopefully second time lucky :)

A few months back, I booked with points return 1st class flights to Europe in mid-December with the outbound and inbound flights both waitlisted. [I thought afterwards that I should have separated the outbound and inbound flights].
Anyway, after a month or so, I was advised that the inbound flight had been confirmed but still the outbound flights were waitlisted.
My concern has been that if the outbound flights are never confirmed then what happens to the inbound flights.
I called Singapore Airlines and it was confirmed that the inbound flights had been ticketed and would not be cancelled should the outbound flights not come through.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation?

My international tickets on Singapore Airlines for early December has been on waitlist, since I booked them in June, using Krisflyer redemption miles. These have yet to be confirmed, and I am getting a little nervous as I really have to fly on those dates, as I am travelling to attend a function.

Can anyone share any tips on how to best manage this situation, outside of just waiting for the tickets to get confirmed? Are there any means in which I can get these tickets confirmed sooner rather than later?

Many thanks!

I'm afraid chances are slim, revenue bookings for SQ have been heavily booked. Furthermore, this is for December, busy period. The Singapore airport is packed these days. You're best to start booking revenue tickets, maybe flex ones, in case your Krisflyer redemption gets confirmed.

I was just going to ask similar question.

I'm trying to bring wife/daughter back to BNE from Thailand in October or even November and there's no availability just waitlist.

If flights are flying full there's very little chance the waitlist will clear but I also cannot afford to wait too long.

One-way airfares through the roof.

Is there any Advantage awards available? If so that is really the best bet at this stage.

55,000 miles each? That'd be all my Amex points gone on 2 one-ways.

Even Scoot to OOL is $1000+ each one way on some days. Crazy.

Unfortunately it is either burning more of your points or pay more cash. That is the new reality post Covid.
