Andy - Dempsey Hill or Kallang?

Thinking of Palm Beach at Marina Bay for chilli crabs, actually, The outdoor seating is by the bay, with MBS as a backdrop. I'll be there tonight again so I can report on the food quality.

Any specific places for Dempsey or Kallang? We have a year to go, so I can go test them out before bookings are made. :)
If we have enough interest, we can charter a minibus so we won't have to worry about finding/calling cabs to get back to the airport, in which case, location/distance from the airport wouldn't matter at all.

Marina Bay area would be great. Can you please check if there are vego options in your travels? If not, I can always go landslide to the SIN staff canteen (if I can remember where i saw the directions).

T1, goto arrivals (Level 1), find Burger King at the end, go outside and follow the signs.

MH arrives in T2. From there, go to landside as per usual. Once there, turn right, go to the end, go up one level, keep going in that direction and catch the skytrain to T1. At T1, go down one level at the first set of escalator you see, and then head back towards the direction of the skytrain. You'll see the Burger King there, and you'll be right from there.

Having said that, I'm sure there are vego dishes available, so you most likely won't be making use of the above directions. :)

JohnK, I stayed at both last week, and whilst the HH KUL DT is very pleasant, the HH is much easier to get to, and a notch up in quality.
Thanks. Price could end up being a factor for the Hilton.

There is a branch of everyone's favourite Live Seafood restaurant in Kallang that has been reliable in recent memory. Fair prices and good food. They even speak English sometimes. I can vouch for the Chilli Crab, Bamboo Clams, Drunken Prawns, etc

Also extremely convenient for anyone that wants to visit a Fragrance Hotel :p :p

But I am happy to try new places, and follow recommendations.

I don't have a problem with Marina Bay, just note that several of the places are only okay (in terms of food), and prices tend to creep up as they have huge rents.

We could always go to Nam Wah Chang for Fish head steamboat and that's a very popular Singaporean establishment!

Most establishments that serve chilli crab also offer numerous non-seafood, and even vegetarian options.

The main challenge is that chilli crab is very messy is "central" to the entire meal (literally and figuratively).

Note that JASA availability for June 4 2015 became available at 10am BNE time today ...

Seafood prices in Thailand have gone through the roof in recent times so not sure if this applies in SIN as well.

A few years back I could get a really nice seafood platter in Walking Street, Pattaya or even Bangkok for ~600-700 baht. That same seafood platter has now doubled in price.

I know it is still relatively cheap but I refuse spend that much money when other places offer all you can eat quality seafood buffets for 1/3-1/2 of the price.

Yeah the chilli crab I bought in sin last week was 36sgd. Much higher than last time I was there. Seafood prices keep going up, this won't change.

(this was from a hawker stall in East coast village)

How much meat did you get? :p

Singapore has seen inflation on a lot of things, and although not in the industry I suspect wholesale seafood prices are climbing also.

Subscribing. No idea what I'll be doing then, maybe living in Japan so I will book a few awards out in every direction and whatever.

Being very frequent to both, may just stay in SIN with friends but will see.

I said in the other thread once we can decide on which KL-SIN flight people will prefer I'll book it, but for now will return to lurking.

Subscribing also . I maybe switching alliances throughout they year , so will keep an eye on this .

Just booked my flight to SIN for this. Now I have a full year (almost!) to work out the return leg :)

SIN is not a bad place to stay around for a little while. Pity you can't get to the lounges without a BP. :P
