KUL to MEL via the scEnYc route

If you get the VA 777 out of KUL you can sit in PE ;)

I have booked this for April school holidays. Fantastic deal. Penang seems to be the best gateway, as well as a good stopover point.

I got Melbourne to Penang with Air Asia for A$305 all up, was cheaper than MEL - KUL!

Then I got Malaysian from Penang to KUL followed by EY 411 operated by VA to AUH. A few days in Abu Dhabi then EY 460 back to Melbourne. The Etihad fare was MYR 1133.00.

A great deal for about A$ 700 all up. Being a family of four, the savings are multiplied.

A question for anyone who has done the flights. We have got the PE seats for the VA flight from KUL to AUH. Does being in those seats make any difference with the service? Or is the benefit just the space of being in the PE seats?

I have been looking for a cheap one way fare back to MEL after a JASA run to SIN, and ended up booking on EY with the routing KUL-AUH-BNE-MEL for MYR 1,527 (around AUD 500). I didn't mind the detour as I have a friend in AUH and also know an AFF member who is going to be there around the same time for the Grand Prix (you know who you are!). A search some weeks back even had fares ex-JHB (across the causeway from SIN) as low as MYR 1,327 (around AUD 450) with a domestic connection to KUL on MH and then the non-stop flight from AUH to MEL...

Mamma mEYa! Here I go again... I was living in MEL when I flew the "scEnYc route" via BNE last year but now that I'm living in BNE I've just booked to fly the 77W to MEL for MYR 1,329 - still almost the same fare as what I found above for the routing JHB-KUL-AUH-MEL. And this time I also found that the "scEnYc route" fare is available from another country (I won't name it here) so you won't need to position to Malaysia.
