Lack of curtains separating Business and Economy on 737

Funny our people on the cheap fares aren't respectful of other people.
There is nothing cheap about paying $177 for a 1 hour flight.

And it has nothing to do with lack of respect for other people. Far from it.

Seriously? Does anybody actually believe Qantas has a formal policy which encourages Y passengers to abuse the privileges that are openly advertised for higher cabins/frequent flyers? .

No, they don't. Because in the normal world, there is a thing as courtesy. Albeit common to most, slightly uncommon to you.

The simplicity of this discussion is easily dissected.
1 - we have @durbrain who thinks a random sign gives him license to be as obnoxious as he likes. "I'm right, because the sign is there" "Don't want Y scum stepping on my brogues"
2 - we have normal courtesy, 10 people queuing for 1 Y toilet and not one for the J toilet. Oh, those amazing bladder strong J customers:) In fact , I just became aware that I fly J, my bladder control is incredible. Incontinence pads no longer needed. A cure!!
3 - When I (and most others) fly in premium cabins, really couldn't give a toss if the J toilet is used , not if there is a curtain, nor if I see people, even durbrain, failing at bladder control. If it's available , use it. CSM should manage it that way. Simple.

In the end......

what the heck, I give up!! Where's the popcorn.

(singularly the most nonsensical argument ever!)

Even I'm having a bit of trouble reconciling these two concept JohnK! :p
Why?

You feel you're entitled to an exclusive toilet where it makes no sense. I don't. That has nothing to do with lack of respect.

And just because you're in business/first doesn't mean I have to respect you more or less than the person in economy.

When you're sitting in rows 1/2 it doesn't matter if the person using the front toilet is coming from row 3, row 4 or row 11. Does it? In fact you'll more than likely have no idea.

Now if you wanted to use the toilet and there was a queue with people from econony then you'd have every right to be upset but when toilet is not being used who cares if there's a person here and there from economy using the toilet?

Next thing you'll be telling me that I shouldn't accept the business class headphones or the glass of champagne from business class because I'm not entitled to those benefits. And if you don't there a few on AFF that actually think that way.

Sorry I'll continue to accept and I'll even ask when prompted.

Yes, but moderators seem to be busy with their own lives this weekend :) Plus 2 to shut down and put to bed.
Shutting down threads is a last resort and not something we routinely do. This thread is being monitored and action has already and/or will be taken if necessary.

I don’t expect you to respect me when I am in J, I just ask that you respect the sign that asks you to not enter unless you are a J pax. Unfortunately once one Y pax uses the front toilet there seems to be an avalanche of Y pax coming forward.

Unfortunately on many occasions, there has been a queue of Y pax lining up to use the front toilet and I have complained on AFF previously about it, specifically, SWMBO trying to eat while someone’s rear end is staring her in the face.

There are many examples quoted on AFF where there have been observations of J & F champagne being offered to a class of pax not entitled to it only for it to run out.

You said earlier that $170 wasn’t cheap to fly Y, try spending much more than that and then not getting what you paid for. I.e. a better cabin environment and/or the standard of beverage you are entitled to.

This argument is just going round and round in circles, I don’t agree with the name calling but I understand the passion this issue evokes. Nobody likes to get less than what they paid for and therefore feel entitled to, for example, how would you feel if you were constantly removed from row 4 only to discover that the seats were filled with no status pax? I doubt anyone’s view is going to be changed as a result of this thread. I’ll continue to complain to Qantas and I expect I will eventually change loyalty if they don’t do anything about it.

Clearly I’m visually impaired. I’ve not seen that sign that you all keep referring to.

I agree totally that a queue from Y lining up across the J cabin would be very unpleasant. But in all our weekly Y domestic flights we’ve never experienced that. Ever. I have seen the occasional person pop in when it’s empty and they are back in no time.

I also get a little humphy when I see someone do exactly that, when I’m in Y. However I do not know their back story.

If I was in J and there was a constant stream then I’d say something to the FA. But I’ve also not experienced that either, just the odd person. That’s fine. If I needed to use the facilities and in the unlikely event there was a line then I would probably ask the FA to clear the queue. I think that’s reasonable but I doubt that will ever occur.

I think this has all been over amped.

Same here. In my dozen or so flights from BNE to MEL on VA over the last couple of years - at various times of the year - aside from the FA's, i have yet to see anyone cross either cabin cross the BIZ rope. Just doesn't seem to be an issue on the flights i am on - and i have started sitting in the Y Econ X seats with the extra legroom, which is very close to the rope.

Hi Gold60.

No rope in Qantas. Wish there was. Would put a lot of argument to rest.

Could be a good customer relations chance for QANTAS here perhaps. Would appear to be low cost, and easy to implement and manage idea for staff?. As i said on the flights i have been on, it works just fine in VA - everyone seems to be content with the status quo..... :)

You don’t have to go very far into the Act to find this, ‘An Act to consolidate the enactments relating to the protection of inclosed lands from intrusion and trespass.’

Thanks for pointing that out, that illustrates perfectly what I am saying. You’ve quoted the long title of the Act, which, yes, appears at the beginning of the Act. The long title is a description of what problem Parliament is trying to address in the Act. The long title has no operative effect itself. The problem that Parliament is addressing in this Act is that trespass (civil wrong) is not adequate to deal with unlawful entry on the lands that the Act applies to, therefore Parliament introduced some criminal offences to deal with it. None of those criminal offences are called trespass because (how many times do I have to say this?) trespass is not a crime.

No disrespect intended but it’s pretty obvious that you aren’t trained in how to read an Act so I’m not going to respond any further to the bush lawyer arguments that you persist in putting up.
