Lack of curtains separating Business and Economy on 737

And on the flight there was no mention of forward loos, just the rear one for economy pax. Interesting idea.

One sneaky person got through to the J toilet then while they were inside another pax decided to try the same thing. Queuing outside it. Crew bumped into him - no choice - and he was sent packing to the rear.

Gotcha!

I actually meant to say “ah, gotcha, I understand now” but it came across as completely the opposite. Blame the Champagne I’m currently drinking at 11 am in the alliance lounge in CDG.
No problem it’s all good and enjoy

Sorry but there appears to me a simple solution not happy with the performance fly a different airline. At the end of the day it’s all about choice. 2-3 mins in the whole scheme of things is it really that important or just flying J will get you out quicker
Have you seen what happens in 2-3 minutes to an immigration queue?

I don't fly SQ that often. I dislike their attitude. But I'm not silly. Award availability on Boxing Day was a no brainer. I'll bite my tongue and complain later.

Oh and see if I can squeeze a full can of Coke light out of them this time without their attitude.

I clicked the "I Agree" button to this post, but only in regard to SQ whY. I too found SQ whY to be quite uninspiring. I personally believe most of the posts about how fabulous SQ is, relate to their higher cabin classes, which hopefully turn out to be good for me too when I finally get around to trying them, but as far as whY goes, there are many airlines I pick over SQ.

As for the curtain, I'd say "suck it up". It's one of the J perks and so be it! ;) :D There's also no valid comparison to be made IMHO between immigration queues and the very minimal wait in exiting an aircraft from the first row in whY! :) (off the cuff comment only, not designed to argumentative)

Who said first row of economy? All I know is in places like KUL, BKK, HKG if you're 2-3 minutes late to immigration you'll find 40-50 people queuing in front of you.

But that's my own observation. Others have different experiences.

That is just the nature of the beast with these busy airports.

But that's not because of a curtain on a plane. It's simply because a whole heap of bodies all turn up at once (all on the same plane, perhaps even multiple planes). The flip side of that argument is that had the curtain not been pulled it allows some to barge past J pax and let them have the 40-50 people in front of them instead, yet those J pax have paid for the priority experience that's espoused by so many airlines. Immigration can be frustrating and tiresome, but it's inevitable queues will occur.

Someone stated previously that VA block whY to let J comfortably deplane and I actually think that is a great benefit VA have over QF.

I agree with you. Physically block the aisle to give business class some breathing room. No need to pull a stupid curtain.

Two good reasons for the curtain. Privacy for premium cabin pax. And mitigates any impatient waiting passengers from intimidating crew to let them through.

What's the difference between a crew member and curtain? A crew member blocking the aisle would still mean arriving at immigration after the forward cabin?

MH make a point of closing the curtain once the aircraft has stopped. It works well.

Re Overhead bins. On Swiss Air right now. No curtains but they do have this:

But on LX people do not car. On the other hand: On Apron arrival LX has a dedicated Business Class Bus.

S7 is very strict with the curtain. When the plan comes to a stop, the FA rushes back and closes the curtain, so the C cabin can exit the plane comfortably. On Apron Arrival there is an extra bus. The fast track Immigration in Moscow was very great. I was in my taxi 10 minutes after the doors opened (gate arrival).

I did love when SQ held up the boarding queue so they could direct me to the first class loo which happened to be on the other side of the door .

QF to HNL FAs made sure all Y pax were directed to the appropriate loos when they went though the curtain to the J galley .

A see through curtain or dark curtain blocking vision?

With a see through curtain one can see what's happening in front and possible delays. Same if a crew member is standing there. With a dark curtain you're standing there waiting unaware of what's going on in front.

You may think the curtain is ok. I don't. We are not going to agree. It makes me feel like a lamb waiting to be taken to the slaughter house. You don't understand that feeling just like I don't understand why anyone would care if the FA is standing there or the curtain is pulled. The curtain makes little difference to how quickly I get out of business class. It never has and never will.

Oh and another thing. If someone in business chooses to disembark slowly that doesn't mean that everyone in economy waits for them. Totally wrong and rude. And I'd be mightily upset if I had to wait for wheelchair to arrive for business class passengers on a 737 especially if wheelchair is not there yet.

It might not be a choice in taking time to disembark. A late boarding business class passenger may have to store bags in the overhead behind them in the cabin. Empty aisles allows the passenger to go back and retrieve the bag.

Wheelchairs are normally waiting on arrival - at least in Asia and the USA. It would be a bit discriminatory to make the wheel chair passenger wait until the entire plane disembarks. They too are entitled to be among the first to reach immigration or the lounge.

As mentioned up thread, if a passenger has an urgent connection they should identify this to the crew to expedite disembarkation.

I've not seen this practice on any other airline. It is demeaning. At least airlines such as Qantas treat economy passengers like people and you'll find that economy passengers patiently wait for those in front. Why would it matter to a business class passenger if curtain is open or closed when disembarking? Curtain was open for descent.
Qantas indeed used to do this in the past, with FA's standing in the aisle between Business/First class passengers and those in economy until the premium cabin denizens were on their way.
