Well, not always, but long enough...QF has always had free alcohol on international flights.

She did offer me the ham and cheese toastie
I'm fine with them not doing it - I think it is better to not do it than offer the 'food' they used to. Having said that, IMHO Jetstar does the BoB thing better. How many times do we have to say that VA is a Hybrid airline?
They're under Qantas and above Jetstar. That's their airline model.
Rex is obviously doing what va used to do.
Have dinner at Wolfgang puck airside and bring a sandwich or so with you.Lucky I've seen this thread. We're on VA DPS-ADL next week and I'll bring pringles/sandwich onboard. It's a late night flight but still may need snack.
Sure but I was referring back to this route where maybe pax BYO their own alcohol (duty free) and DYO (drink your own).QF has always had free alcohol on international flights.
I've had pax do this twice. Had the police meet them to start their holiday. Wouldn't recommend unless you wanted a really, really embarrassing way to start your holiday.Sure but I was referring back to this route where maybe pax BYO their own alcohol (duty free) and DYO (drink your own).

I wouldn't say Rex is what VA used to be, Rex bus class meals are definitely below VA, in economy they offer more (included in the fare) but Rex lounges are dire & very few, at this stage (almost like sitting in a garage in Melbourne). How many times do we have to say that VA is a Hybrid airline?

Exactly the point I am making - which some people missed ( i didnt complain about paying for it) Not only is it a 6 hour flight, but it leaves at 5pm, so normal dinnertime for everyone will be during the flight. So one would expect to get Dinner, paying for it or not.But not have substantial food options available for all those who want it on a 6-7hr international flight (included or BoB) - definitely substandard service.
Is it difficult to spot?I've had pax do this twice
The warning is in the p.a which is along the lines of "consumption of personal duty free alcohol onboard is prohibited and against VA policy"I assume you gave them a warning first?
It's a half assed approach.Exactly the point I am making - which some people missed ( i didnt complain about paying for it) Not only is it a 6 hour flight, but it leaves at 5pm, so normal dinnertime for everyone will be during the flight. So one would expect to get Dinner, paying for it or not.
Seems Virgin assume that 80% of the passengers dont want to eat or bring their own food, or just downright lazy
As for the flight coming home I couldnt give a fig - it departs at 23:30. By that time everyone has had dinner and ready to go (Try) to sleep.
Most of us are pretty onto it. Most the times other pax will let us know.Is it difficult to spot?
Given that empty drink bottles can be taken past security...duty free could be decanted into those at any time before the flight (outbound from AU that is)...then there is nothing to spot...except perhaps pax behaviour! Most of us are pretty onto it. Most the times other pax will let us know.

There's a tip.Given that empty drink bottles can be taken past security...duty free could be decanted into those at any time before the flight (outbound from AU that is)...then there is nothing to spot...except perhaps pax behaviour!
There is no free/included alcohol on any VAi flight other than in business, unfortunately :/There's a tip.
Question; is free booze not provided on VAi flights to DPS NAN etc?
Just curious.
