Good to see you had an enjoyable experience even though it was late. I guess it meant you spent extra time in the lounge, so it's not all bad. Least not for you.

The fare has been around for a while, so I don't think it'll be going anywhere (touch wood).
I hope not as it is quite usable on occasions.

I agree - I'm hoping it'll still be around in February 2010 as I look to fly BNE/SYD/AKL/SYD/BNE for a weekend (and hope the return AKL/SYD is on time )

Lindsay,

As you know I have used this flight several times. I allow about 3 hrs at SYD but depending upon whether the LAN flight is early, on time or late we end up on an appropriately adjusted QF fight onwards. On each occasion this is with separate tickets and without issue. I just make sure QF and LAN are aware of each others tickets.

I thought that was impossible due to the higher taxes ex-SYD.

Oneway from AKL prices at roughly half the return. A oneway from SYD prices the same as the return (700ish). So either the oneway fare is not available at all or no one seems to be picking it up.

The offered SYD-AKL o/w fare's (DEEEV223) base price is AUD549 and books into D class.

The r/t fare offer is AUD568 (IEEEV221) and books into I class.

You can't get the cheap one-way Syd-AKL. But AKL-SYD is possible at A$298.

curious as to what lounge is used at AKL for the omg-oclock departures and what time it opens. I'm trying to talk the other half into hitting a bar until late then straight to the airport instead of trying to sleep then be up at some ungodly hour to check in at 3 or 4am

AKL security opens 4:30am - the Qantas J and F lounges are open from then.

Hi all

Has anyone noticed this when booking a AKL - SYD flight with LAN ?

LAN has no direct flights from Auckland to Sydney on Tuesday. However, if you're flexible about the departure date, we suggest the following alternatives on direct LAN flights.

But checking their schedules, they seem to have daily AKL - SYD flights. So I am not sure what they mean..

I am trying to book a flight for early Dec to take advantage of the cheap J class fares and SC...Last I saw, that segment was around A$300....

Could somebody shed any light whether they definately have direct AKL - SYD everyday at that OMG hour of 5.50 am ?

cheers
Mox

I was looking to book a one-way flight SYD-AKL for Feb 2010 (trying to avoid the early departure ex-AKL) and was surprised to see it was priced at ~$650. after all the return airfare is ~$700. Another one of those silly anomalies with some destinations....

According to the oneworld timetable here: http://www.trvlink.com/download/oneworld/oneworld.pdf

Code:
From - To Elapsed
Validity Days Dep Arr Flight Aircraft time
- 17Nov 12 4567 05:50 07:30 LA801 343 03:40
18Nov - 1234567 05:50 07:30 LA801 343 03:40

So until 17 Nov, there is no Wed morning flight. After that, it becomes 7 days.

Thanks Mal...I am going to book a seat in Dec..looking forward to some easy SC....

sorry, one last question. for those who have flown LAN, do they have lounges for their clients as their webpage only talks about lounge facilities only in Santiago International airport. Or do they share with other One World partners in AKL ?

thanks

In SYD and AKL - For LAN it's the QF J lounge (F lounge for those with Emerald status)
