Latitude [owner of 28 Degree MC] suffers Cyber attack, personal info stolen

So, how do you know if your DL number has been compromised? Latitude don’t seem to know.
They did know for SWMBO with her nee GE card as advised in an email.

They are arranging for a new licence (same front number, backside PIN) to be sent out.

This page is a bit hard to find but might be of use: Latitude Cyber Incident

Depends on your state but Latitude is paying for ID to be replaced if necessary. In QLD if it’s only your DL number that has been compromised you won’t need a replacement. If an image of your DL has been stolen Latitude will pay the cost for replacement.
But are they paying?
Has anyone got them to reimburse?
Has anyone got them to provide an email or address?
All they provide is an overseas call centre number, staffed by people who can't help.

I still haven't received any notice, other than the initial generic one. Does that mean my info wasn't involved or Latitude just hasn't got to me yet?

Exactly. They emailed me stating (my bold) "We have so far identified that the attack resulted in the following kinds of your personal information being compromised"...
and "personal information you provided us as part of your application which, where applicable, included... "
Like lawyers trying to cover their cough, saying "included" ie not limited to.

i got the first generic email, then a follow up some weeks later saying my DL number was exposed, plus the link to say VicRoads would contact me for a free replacement.

Has your DL image been compromised? ( assuming you are in QLD).

if yes they should have noticed you.

if not, no replacement needed.

Yes latitude has advised that my (qld) driver's licence number has been compromised.
No they haven't notified whether, or not, my image has been compromised. And that's the problem, they don't/won't say that it hasn't.

Their help link states..."If we have notified you that your:
-driver licence number has been compromised
-driver licence image has not been compromised
You do not need to replace your licence."

They are being very cagey and won't state that the image hasn't been compromised, so I don't think you can presume it hasn't.

I am under the auspices of the Coles card . However I think I have had this card for many many years. Drivers licence has definitely changed. It does state on my email that it was the details I provided at the time of application. If that is correct it would have an old address as well.

This is the exact content of the notification email received relating to GE.

What kind of information has been impacted?

We have so far identified that the attack resulted in the following kinds of your personal information being compromised. This information was collected from you at the time you applied for credit from Latitude or our predecessor companies.

• The driver licence number you provided us as part of your application.
• The personal information you provided us as part of your application which, where applicable, included your full name, address, date of birth and phone number.

If we identify any other of your personal information has been compromised, we will notify you as quickly as possible.

To be clear, both I (28°) and SWMBO (GE) had previously received the generic email. From that I suspect my licence was not compromised here (although that is moot since I had one reissued last year in relation to OPTUS).

Given the emails sent to me I have assumed my licence image hasn't been compromised.

They have been forthcoming about what has been compromised.

I got an email from Vicroads telling me that my D/L number had been compromised, but as I got a replacement licence after the Optus debacle (I am 3/3 with Medibank too!), I would not need a new licence due to the new card number.

I think I will be closing my card.

Hello all, not sure if the fraud I had happen overnight is related to this, but I thought I will share.

This morning, I woke up to a text message from Latitude saying there was a dodgy transaction to Air Asia Berhad on my card. This came through at 3:29am and upon checking my account, there were 3 transactions of $2067, $1318 and $283 on my card. Obviously I reported this straightaway using the text prompt and the card was cancelled. Followed up with a call this morning and they said they will report the fraud transactions and will provide me a result within 21 days. Has anyone had this happen on their Latitude cards recently after the data breach. I understand that the data breach is primarily to do with personal information, so probably not linked.

Bit stressful as it is a big amount. Hoping that they are able to resolve it.

I'm sorry to hear this happen to you! Hopefully it can get resolved quickly.

I have locked my card pending paying off the closing amount so haven't had any dodgy transactions come through, but I have noticed a lot more spam emails getting through as well as calls which is frustrating - I now google unfamiliar numbers before I answer them.

Have you signed up for the class action with Gordon legal?

Don't worry too much, I've had this happen with the 28 degrees before. Woke up with a bunch of transactions, disputed and they were all refunded without issues. Most annoying part is replacing the card to be honest.

Best thing was one of the stores where the transaction was made gave me the shipping details of the person who made the orders. We reported it to the ACSC and the police and got told that they pretty much won't investigate as we got our money back.

I think I've now had issue with all of the recent data leaks. My NSW drivers licence is expiring 28 Nov 2023. It's probably a good time to request a new number.

I don't really have any plans to be in SYD before expiry so will need to renew online. I think I'm eligible for the 5 year renewal and ideally I'd like a new licence before Thailand trip mid-September.

If I apply for new licence now do I forfeit the remaining time left on current drivers licence and get a new expiry date?

The new licence will come with a new card number but existing DL number. That ought to be sufficient. I might be wrong but I thought I read somewhere that NSW won’t change DL # (the argument being the different card number is fine).

I’d expect the same expiry date if you’re just renewing. You might get a different Exp date if you’re able to get a replacement off the back of data breaches etc.
