Latitude [owner of 28 Degree MC] suffers Cyber attack, personal info stolen

This email was the first correspondence I received from latitude and i cancelled card a year ago. The email is terribly written and confusing. The line about ”your image” should be under the list of ID that was taken.
Yes terrible, I had to re-read it and still not sure what it is trying to state.
Reads like a scam!

I’d partially agree.
My only dealing with Latitude is because I hold the 28 deg card and yet I’m getting the same compromised details messages as everyone else.

Did you mean that you don’t believe actual 28deg card numbers, expiry, ccvs etc have been compromised, or only details of the cardholders themselves compromised?

Having got the latest email (sort of useless*…) I fully expect that my old drivers license, address, old phone number and maybe email address have been compromised. None of the first three pieces of info are valid any more but email remains the same. As I don’t get much spam email I wonder if this will change in the near future?

* I say sort of useless as it’s poorly worded to suggest that some of my info may have been compromised, but doesn’t say what. Then goes on to confuse the issue by noting the bit about ‘images of your documents’. So the info has (presumably from a database) but an image of my drivers license hasn’t? Are they just saying that a picture of me is not associated with the compromised data?
I don’t believe the 28 degree credit card numbers were compromised. Otherwise they’d have shut our cards down.

The information I’d heard was just in passing, and seemed to make sense in line with latitude’s original claim that suppliers had been compromised, not their own data bases.

This might have changed.

From reading their messages it seems there are two ways they have your driver licence… either card number only, or an image of the driver licence. So the in some cases the hackers will only have the former.

Sure ... I carved out "govt requirement" ... most of my argi-bargi was in the UK (when it was still in the EU :) )
Careful not to put your address as australia in uk. Some hotels will treat you as a foreigner and demand passport copies.

Nuts, at this rate I suspect at this rate more than half the country have had their details compromised by at least one large breach

Like many others I’ve received the same email. I’ve run a couple of credit reports and tested indicate that I’ve had the 28 degrees card since 2008. Since that time I’ve renewed my drivers licence twice. The licence number stays the same but the unique card number on the back changes. Hence an licence image that’s 15. years old will not be of any use for online ID checks.
Regardless .like everyone else not happy that private details have been hacked.

I am in a similar situation. My 28 Degree card was obtained in 2011 so tje card number is different. The Lattitude e-mail indicates that no image was stolen.

Could you pls give a recipe for that (links and method). I'm pretty sure I'm a couple of licences in too, but would be good to check.
There were some hyperlinks within the Latitude email that would take you the credit reporting sites to place a block on your credit reports for initially 29 days, so any agency checking on your credit rating could not get access to this information. I used Ilion and Experian. I placed a credit report block via Experian which also had an option to block reports from the other credit reporting agencies.

Initially I requested my credit report via

After receiving the report placed the initial credit report ban via Experian

I have just received this email this morning. I applied for a card about 2 months ago so probably have all my latest information including new DL and Number as I had changed it due to the Optus leak (confirmation from Optus that it was hacked).

SWMBO just received a Similar letter in relation to a GE "Interest Free" card we have had for over two decades.

Seems being Victorian, Latitude will arrange with Vicroads for a new Licence to be sent out.

Based on my experience with Optus last year ( :( ), SWMBO's new DL will have the same number but a new 'unique' card number.

After the initial email sent a few weeks ago, I just got that same email that @maia200 posted, just now.

I'm in NSW so not sure if they will arrange for a new licence to be sent out? I will now check with the credit score sites.

If you’ve already renewed your licence since applying for any products, there’s probably no need for another one - unless you want a new photo!

Got the email from Latitude this morning. Years since I had a card with them (if at all. Need to check when a previous card issued by GE Money was cancelled)

Hmm sadly this was a new card 6 months ago. Drivers licence renewed 2 years ago.

Has anyone had a transaction that was declined? I have had two in the last two days.
No, not yet. Using it extensively in the US at the moment.

I did have trouble booking some BA flights before leaving home. I was not getting the authorisation code “pop up” window on my iPad.

Have you been using the card for hotel preauthorisations as well as on checkout? Latitude will have that as 2 separate transactions for at least a fortnight, both eating up your credit limit until the preauthorisation finally drops off. Maybe check on the website how much credit you have left (a different thing from how much is due to be paid).

Phoned them today. Told something to the effect, 'being cautious for any fraud'.
I have used my card with this particular merchant for years and just recently three weeks ago without any problems. Thankfully, I was not overseas travelling and trying to use my card.
