Latitude [owner of 28 Degree MC] suffers Cyber attack, personal info stolen

Yes I got the email also. I signed up for my new card last year, so using current ID information.
I will have to wait and see.

I’m hoping this too… my card must be at least 10+ years old, so original ID now expired.

Not sure about this. For example, Your drivers licence number doesn’t change when it expires and gets renewed. (in Victoria at least)

Oh! I thought it changed. But isn’t there a card number as well or something now? Hopefully that changes!

The card number is fairly recent. Unlikely you had one ten years ago.
But you need a valid card number to process electronic ID checks now. NSW rolled card numbers out ages ago. Haven’t all other states now done the same (apart from any laggards)?

The extra numbers on the card change with every renewal and this is now required for ID check.

I received general email just now. Checked the date I was approved for this card and realised I would have used the DL identity last year and before the Optus scam so only old DL would have been used. Phew. Card holding up. The old 28 degree card was excellent at picking up scams so fingers crossed.
Unfortunately also excellent at blocking legitimate spending when overseas, even after advising them of travel details.

Drip, drip, drip, comes the info.

Maybe they genuinely don’t know how widespread the problem is yet.

given their level of cybersecurity knowledge, that’s pretty obvious.

Time these companies and CEOs were fined millions and millions over their slackness.

Not surprisingly, more discovered ... from today's Oz on-line:

Latitude Financial has uncovered further evidence of “large-scale” data theft, adding to the more than 330,000 customers who have already had their personal information stolen in a cyber attack last week.

The major credit card, loan and buy now pay later provider said a forensic review had found that the latest round of stolen information impacted customers (past and present) and applicants across Australia and New Zealand.

Despite more customer data being compromised, Latitude said that to the best of its knowledge, there had been no further attacks since March 16.

This may be news :

“Because the attack remains active, we have taken our platforms offline and are unable to service our customers and merchant partners,” Latitude said on Monday.

I did here on ABC that the call centre is back online.

Still nothing heard here on the specifics….

The issue seems to be slightly bigger than first imagined…

"we heard not a public peep from chief executive Ahmed Fahour."

Should lose his multimillion doallar severence package.

edit: and how about a $10 fine for EACH record the company allowed to be stolen by incompetent security of data.

He has now made a statement as per below. But of course it is just the same as other CEO's have issued in previous instances. They have also now agreed to pay the cost of new documents - "Latitude said it would reimburse customers who choose to replace their stolen ID documents." I haven't received anything apart from the first generic e-mail.

It’s so widespread. GE Finance. Harvey Norman and the like. Even Coles Mastercard in previous years.

In NSW there are two numbers. The licence no. stays the same but the card number changes when you renew. I'm unsure whether one/both is required as proof of identity.

With no overseas travel, I have not used my 28deg card for many years.
I assume it is still current but have received no news from Latitude about security.. mayhaps no news is good news...

I think that’s Australia wide now. Anyway Optus happened after so already have new DL. SA Govt is offering free replacement for Latitude victims now.

AFAIK all the states were implementing this. Just that some were.further along the implementation paths than others.
I think you need both numbers as part of the I'd process.
