I'm Accor Platinum and its fairly useless.
I've been gold or platinum by default for about 8 years and in that time only had a couple of upgrades usually through making a bad google review where they gave me the line of someone I have to call every time I stay with them so that he can directly call the hotel and ensure they do what they are supposed to do anyway for their Platinum members . Its a joke really but they have good hotels everywhere.
This new rebrand won't make a tiger change its spots and its sooo..... naively European can I say?
Like French pop music - they think its cool but everyone else thinks its just naff.
Sorry to hear about your difficulties, I’ve found quite the opposite. Have been a Platinum for only a couple of years and would be damn close to 100% on room upgrades in Australia and about 70% OS.
I will add the caveat that in Australia the majority of stays are at the same couple of properties so I don’t know if that’s a factor or not. In Europe we got zero upgrades from our stays in Austria and Germany but in Paris at the Pullman Eiffel Tower we had 4 nights upgraded to a Eiffel view suite (price difference was $450/night) so quite a decent upgrade IMO. Have had really good success at the Novotel Lombok also, last visit we were upgraded for the 7 nights from a $139/night room to a Private pool villa which was valued at $309/night. Vietnam and Thailand have also been kind to us in the upgrade department

26000 points to qualify for Diamond status. Free breakfasts on weekends (weird). And ability to gift someone Gold status.

Plus an invitation-only additional status. But no further details of benefits.

Still makes me fear for current Platinum benefits, even if there is an assurance they won't change. Individual hotels or brands seem to be able to depart from standard rules now so surely this will happen more.

So two "new" tiers , a name change and everything else to remain the same.

These were the only new bits of the whole announcement.
Apparently if an Accor Plus member gifts gold, the giftee will get an Accor Plus Traveller membership (i.e. Accor Plus sans the free night)

I have been Platinum for the last couple of years and found it really good.
Have consistently got upgrade rooms. Pullman in Bali provided a great upgrade room plus buffet breakfast and buffet dinner every night. Always get free breakfast at Novotel domestically as well - as per @jase05 above I consistently stay at the same couple of hotels so not sure if that is more the reason.
Looking forward to see what Diamond delivers as I'm doing a 4 month trip in Europe next year.

Those lower tier benefits seem pretty poor. Hilton and Shangri La at least at the gold level give you breakfast for free.

Complimentary breakfast - on weekends. Doesn't sound fantastic does it.

I don't go out of my way to stay at Accor hotels and these changes certainly won't change that. That said, I happen to be very close to Silver status anyway - looking forward to my welcome drink and priority turndown service (what does that even mean?)

Remember that in Asia-Pacific, Platinum members already get free breakfast in almost all hotels anyway (any day of the week), so even less to differentiate the Diamond level (not that I'm even close to getting Platinum myself at the moment).

See the second tab of this page: List of hotels with an Executive Lounge

Good question. I’m Accor gold and I’ve never had a turn down service.

The free drink is a voucher provided on arrival for house beer, house wine or soft drink.

It's not "priority" turndown service. Just turndown service. Which varies so much hotel-to-hotel, if even offered.

Most basic is fold the bed-sheets/cover down ready for use.

The better ones in my experience involve a bathroom tidy and towel refresh; extra waters, chocolates, fresh fruit, ice bucket etc; draw the curtains (or open them depending on view!) and put on a radio station with easy-listening music. Not my preference but often you have slippers and bathrobes laid out ready for use.

Given the hotel can't usually predict when a guest will return to the room for the night, must be hard to satsify everyone with a turndown service between (in my observation) 6pm and 8pm.

I'm platinum and never had turndown service. I've asked and been told you only get it if you are in a suite and this was at a Sofitel.

I'm a bit over the lack of consistency across brands. What one branded hotel gives you is different to another hotel of the same brand. And you should never ever have to remind/ask staff for your rewards/perks, but this seems to be becoming the norm as opposed to the rarity.

Exactly what does the "Personal Attention" benefit listed as a Gold member entail?

Still seems like a fail to me still. Why not strive for personal attention for ALL customers. This is basic customer service.

Do diamonds get two goes at breakfast on weekends in APAC?
