Now that is utterly outrageous. If you were paying that there is no wonder you want to enjoy not flying.
Here is another pet hate of mine.......
A friend of mine and his wife, not frequent flyers by any stretch, but avid points hoarders, recently redeemed 2 years' worth of carefully hoarded points on EK F from Sydney to Dubai.
As QF Bronze members, this was their first ever visit to the QF First lounge, and first ever experience of First class.
I was completely gobsmacked by their dismissive review of the experience. Emirates F was not as good as they expected... the food wasn't great... the showers were "tiny"... the IFE was just "OK"... the bar was "small"...

...My point was that such an F ticket is tecnically valued at the $10k +....
Someone must pay RRP for F?
Jesus TonyHancock, are you looking to argue?By whom? I ask becaue I don't consider myself a frequent flyer but i have never paid more than $6k for long; haul F return.
I mean - Swiss Air? What kind of network do they have? Who transits through Zurich? What kind of infrastructure at a Swiss airport could even rival HKG or DXB??? Once again - I have not flown them - but a quick analysis of fleet size and number of routes makes having the best of anything a strange business proposition, right?
Jesus TonyHancock, are you looking to argue?
I agree that such tickets are not worth the dollar value. That is my point. But try to get a F long haul from Australia to the USA or Europe without using points - that is what they actually cost. If you can point me to where I can buy a F ticket on Emirates or QF from Sydney to LHR for $6k return, I would really love to know it.
aaaaarrrrrgggghhhhhhhh!! why is it so hard to voice an opinion without endless debates?? I am so unable to express an idea. This is NOT about the specific costs of a flight. It is (from my angle) about how F flights are just expensive ways to make long haul travel more palatable. At obscene costs. From Australia, not 6K but the bottom has fallen out of the Aussie. Still, there are bargains... Qatar is currently offering SYD-Europe for 10K return on their A380 in F. That's 24 hours each way (actually cheaper than QF/EK business)

Oh. I get what you mean now. But doesn’t the same logic apply to $500+ menus at the fat duck, or buying a ferrari?
Yes I see now......I think. I believe we are only a couple of posts away from some way addressing the issue as a First World Problem.
The logic can be applied to pretty much everything we pay for....to the extent that we should live in single room mud huts and eat rice and beans. Ultimately it is all relative one persons $10k round the world F is the same as another’s $300 Fred Perry steak or $5000 suit/dress/etc.
Back in one of Juddles' posts he says the 'experience', on its own, of flying F wouldn't be worth it... as in if some company was offering $10K joyrides just to experience F you wouldn't take it. You only pay it because you need to get from A to B anyway. I dunno - maybe of the joyride was 1 hour, for $1000, people would take it to cross it off the bucket list.
I think BA used to do that with Concorde. I believe there were plenty of takers in the corporate world.
Concorde being so exxy to get into the air ... and given the only commercial route they had was (what) 5hrs long ... ie. that being the time they were already putting a ‘plane in the air ... did the 1hr joyride end with a parachute & a swim?
